F31 wagon/ 328i x drive manual trans

Two things:

I've read that the f31 wagon based on the new f30 won't be available with a manual transmission (on either the 328i or the 328i x drive models). This seems strange since they offer a manual tranny on the 328i rwd sedan. Does anyone know if this is the case?

I'm bummed that you can't get a 328i x drive with a manual tranny. Is there any way to special order this model (328i xdrive MT), or will bmw perhaps offer it in the near future?

Dealerships have been pretty unhelpful with these questions, as expected.

I also doubt there will be a manual diesel offered either.

Nothing really to do. Sometimes you can get something a bit one-off from euro delivery, but something this extreme is unlikely.

The problem is EPA certification. Too little demand. Too much expense. The wagon would have to be certified separately.

Sadly manual transmissions are being phased out. American drivers in general are too lazy and now that automatics can offer the same if not better performance Europeans are switching as well. The only manual hold outs now are enthusiasts and as the cost of producing cars continues to increase building many variants is not viable.

No one knows for sure until BMW NA releases the details, there could be an 11th hour change but I wouldn't count on it. I had thought we'd get the details before the Detroit Auto Show but they must be holding off until the New York show. As soon as we have the details they will be posted.
