Buy one of these, or similar, plug into socket by foot kick panel and see what it tells you. If there is no comm to DME it will let you know.

lol there will be no error codes with a DmE communcation problem..

you need to get your self the bentley manual and learn to read prints..

your going to have to go thru the harrness, the fuses all the connections

trouble shoot your OBD2 port

DME very very very rarely go bad.. So i cant get down with that.. more then likely you have wiring issues that look like a bad DME and no one took the time to actually confirm it

The 2nd dme doing the same thing would have been the big indicator.. PUT back all the original stuff you swapped out and start the diag process

your also going to need a Good meter and some electrical skills... Im intrigued i dont get to see a whole lot of these problems : there might be something here for me to learn..

Id like to learn with you on this one

get your self a Bentley service manual set so we can go over the prints together (we are going to have to troubleshoot the CAn first)

Jesus,,if multiple mechanics told you the dme is bad all over a no crank / start complaint then there idiots yes absolutely moronic idiots. Computers as burning 2nd mentioned rarely fail , in 20 yrs 15 at dealerships I have only seen 1 ecu well 2 but the 2nd the pins corroded off so technically the internals where ok. Also were going to need a little more info, what have you done so far ? Fuses, grounds,? Do you have a service manual, ? Any stored faults? Any relevant history? Can you communicate with others modules on the canbus?

I had a misfire and no codes , everything was fine but just a misfire and the car shut down and now not starting , the ignition comes on and the radio works , the ac fan blows , the lights work and am getting a set of error on the dash (transmission fault , abs fault , cluster fault but no engine light ) and when I try to start the engine turns over only once and it doesn't turn over again until I disconnect the battery pole and reconnect it and it will turn over once again. I have a brand new battery I changed the positive power cable .

I can tell when it happened to me what it was, just something to check.
The sealed box it sits in had broken the seal then had water intrusion which basically fried it all.
