2011 x3 warranty

Thinking of purchasing a 2011 x3 28i with 109k for my daughter from our local BMW dealer. They suggested a drivetrain warranty 24mo/24k for 2900. Is it worth it? The car appears to be well maintained (was told by the sales guy that the previous owner leased it first, then purchased it once the lease expired as cpo with the 100k warranty and was traded in within the past few days. I am concerned w this mileage something will go south on me. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Given what a transmission or engine repair would cost, and that your daughter hopefully won't go though the 24k miles in under 2 years, it's a pretty good deal compared to around $3k for just a one year extension past the expiring CPO a dealership offered me. Figuring that would amount to roughly $120 per month, that sounds pretty good to me by comparison. Can't hurt to shop around for other options, of course, and that might also give you some bargaining power.

Thanks Tobias! I did fail to mention that the deductible is $500, but still think I'll probably purchase it just for piece of mind.

A $500 deductible on a $15k repair definitely puts you way ahead, heaven forbid that should happen.
