Oil and oil filter

Hello,
The manual mentions the 5W-30 spec for oil type and I decided to go with the following oil:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...=ATVPDKIKX0DER

First, I wanted to know your opinion on this oil, then ideas on what brand and model to go for the oil filter. The manual doesn't mention anything in this regard.

Got no problem with your choice of motor oil; been a "fanboy" of Castrol for decades for my 2-wheel Beemer (and the "oink" before). However, I would get the EURO version if I had a choice. I might mention also that BMW 5W30 TwinPower Turbo LL-01 Engine Oil (1 Liter - Part #: BMW-83212365946) is still available from many of the regular vendors at nearly the same price per litre. I am particular about oil filters and always chose Mann or Mahle for my 4-wheeler.

Good choice!
Anything with LL01 spec is all you need.

And the filter kit from mann is a good one.

Go to FCPEuro and get free oil changes, minus $20 in shipping. Seriously - I've already done it once and will keep doing it. First OC, full price, follow ups are cost of shipping.

Yeah, I did it too. Couldn't believe that they would take back used oil and credit me with the original price that I paid. They ship fast too! win/win

Whoa!! Never heard of that. I couldn't find it on their site where they mention that. I'm doing an oil change shortly and would certainly go that route if they still do that. Is there a secret handshake?

No tricks or "smoke & mirrors"; read about it here:
https://www.fcpeuro.com/page/lifetime-guarantee#photos
Note: the only "catch" is that you get a credit for the original selling price of the part(s), not the current price of the replacement (the increase of the current price of their parts is usually a few pennies and is reasonable). You must pay the cost of the return shipment of items to them.

Good oil but for almost half that price you can get Mobil one full synthetic. Changing your oil and filter regularly is more important then the brand.

Just did my first oil change….. The good news is that my xdrive has the metal oil pan and drain plug . About 6 quarts came out I put 5 1/2 quarts in and it shows full on the I drive , Drive another week or two and see what it reads I have heard this car oil read out is not very accurate

By the way I useed mobile one 0W 40…. I think it was $22 for 5 quarts at Walmart
