So, is there a way to create my own bandpass filter for the underseat subs? or do i have to put my 600/6 up for sale and get a 700/5 like yours?
I'd say using a xd700/5 would be your easiest option. You could probably pull it off with the xd600/6 by using an external active crossover, but that would complicate the install significantly. If you're set on using the factory underseat woofers as midbass and adding a true sub, I'd recommend the xd700/5, it's perfect for that setup.

UPDATE---
I just looked at the xd600/6 crossover setting on the JL site here and you could actually get away with it using the following configuration...

1 - set channels 1&2 to HP @ 200Hz and connect all 4 door speakers to those two channels (I'd recommend a series wiring configuration)
2 - set channels 3&4 to HP @ 80Hz and connect the two underseat subs to it WITH a passive inline (~200Hz) LP Filter on the speaker cable itself. This isn't the most efficient crossover but it should do the trick.
3 - finally set channels 5&6 to LP @80Hz and bridge them to your subwoofer in the trunk.

Good luck!

Hey Everyone,

Technic sent me a link to this page and I'm ordering one of his harness' to start my audio upgrade in my 135i! Thought that you guys might be interested in the new drop in replacements that Rockford Fosgate is releasing the first part of April. I plan on ordering a pair, the cost isn't that bad (<600) for a full set.

http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/details/t3-bmw1

I'm still debating on whether to pick up the XD600 or go with a Rockford Fosgate. For subs I'm going to run a Fosgate P1000X1BD to push 2 P3 12's.

Debated picking up a 3sixty.3 but I think I'm going to wait and see how it sounds without it.

My interior is the coral red so I was going to have the box covered to match the doors. So when I drop the back seats it will be seamless.

Hopefully will have everything completed this time next month and then I'll post some pictures!

Thanks!!

Great review!, I don't mind spending $500 for a better sound system. BTW, would this effect our warranty of any sort?

Thank you !!! When I was in my mid 20's to mid 30's it was not today. My last serious set up I had 5, 8" JL Audio subs... I like a tight well controlled bass. I really need to do something with my 320i, am looking for speaker replacements and amp..

Not with the whole car. If something went wrong with your motor or transmission they can't deny your warranty because you put new speakers/amp in. If something went wrong with iDrive, then maybe they could because that is tide to the stereo etc.

Does anyone have suggestions on what amp I can use in stead of the JL Audio 600/6? These are not possible to get anywhere here in Norway. I managed to find a few shops, but they are extremely pricy.

What about something like the dynaBel BF0756?

would be great if someone could help me out here! :-)

Maybe a nice bimmerfest member would be willing to send you a "pre-owned" JL Audio 600/6? New in the US is ~520USD or ~3113 Norwegian Krone. Shipping via USPS is ~48USD.

Is the OEM HiFi setup the same in F32 as in the F30? This thread is making me reconsider the HK upgrade I've planned.

To replace the HiFi OEM amp in the F30 directly you need a balanced-inputs aftermarket amp that can take 4ch inputs and create 6ch outputs. In the F30 that would mean losing the center speaker output as there are 7ch in the F30 HiFi.

Otherwise, an Audiocontrol Matrix line driver/balanced-to-unbalanced converter must be used in between the iDrive outputs and the aftermarket amp inputs. Then any aftermarket amp can be used regardless of accepting balanced-inputs or not.

The proper way of replacing the F30 HiFi OEM amp is to use a 7ch-8ch aftermarket amp with a DSP processor that can accept balanced inputs. For example, the Audison bit one.1 and the Helix DSP processors accept balanced-inputs.

The Helix PP 82DSP would be the perfect all-in-one device for the F30 HiFi as it is DSP + 8ch amp in one module. However, nowhere in their specs states that it can accept balanced inputs.

Any 6ch amps you would suggest instead of the JL Audio XD600/6? I have the 6ch stereo in my F30, so I don't need a 8ch. What do you think about the dynaBel BF0756?

Do you guys have bluetooth? If so, how did you get around this?

Thanks!
Everybody has bluetooth... I would go back and make sure you hooked the amp up correctly....

No HiFi OEM amp, in any BMW, ever, has a MOST connection. None.

MOST = fiber optic cables

Whatever happened in your car it was not due to replacing the OEM HiFi amp.

Finally got my hands on one of these amps for a fair price on ebay. One question.. What if i want to add a extra pair of subs in my trunk.. How can i hook these up to the amp without disconnecting the underseat subs? Possible?

Will need another amp.
http://www.jlaudio.com/xd300-1-car-a...plifiers-98266

Or run the fronts and back in series off of two channels, run the under seats off of two channels and bridge two channels for a sub(s). You only get 200 watts bridged though so another amp may be best.

Hey drawz... you might want to take a look at this post...

https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=732603

using an xd700/5 I managed to keep both my underseat subs (as midbass) and add a true 12 inch subwoofer in my trunk. The result is amazing!

I finally got around to installing my xd600/6 in my F30 335i months after i received the harness from Technic. Wow - what a royal pain in the ass it was removing all those trim pieces. Actual amp install was dead simple!

Set my amp as per recommendation - CH1-4 set @ 200Hz and 7 o clock gain, CH5-6 set @ 200Hz and 9 o clock gain. Sound is SO much better. Id rate it like an 8/10 now whereas before i think it was about a 6.5/10. Bass is much better, and there is no distortion at relatively high volumes. Clipping is also not evident at all. My only gripe is that the tweeters sound like ass. I tend to pick this up mostly on some rock socks where the tweeters sound very "tinny" and sometimes bright. I never had this before installing the amp so not sure why suddenly this is happening. Treble and bass is set to +0.

Otherwise, very happy! Not missing my centre channel one bit!

You just discovered that the DSP that you just removed with the OEM amp was there to compensate for the not-so-great OEM tweeters.

So basically $150 for aftermarket tweeters will fix the problem....

Great tips in this thread, thanks. The standard stereo sounds decent with windows and sun-roof closed, but when you open them in highway driving volume practically disappears. Would changing to higher output amp help and would the stock speakers handle it, or is the bigger subwoofer set up necessary?

I believe people have stated yes to both in this thread, this is why the gain is turned down. However, going aftermarket will help too.
