Reversing (backup) assistant

Read web articles talking about this feature on the x5, calling it reversing or backup assistant, but don't see it mentioned on BMW x5 "build it" or feature pages. Question: Is it standard? Available with parking assistant or other package? Thanks.

I believe you need to get the parking assistant package in order to get the reversing assistant. I have not found anything on the X5 but did come across an article on the new 3 Series and it said the feature was in the Parking Assistant package.

Let me ask the question differently. Does anybody out there in the U.S. with a 2019 G05 X5, actually have reverse assistant?

Thanks. Wonder why it's nowhere on BMWUSA website? (At least, I couldn't find it.)

Is this the feature you're asking about?

https://bmw.scene7.com/s7viewers/htm...38928920_en-US

Specific information about options and their operation are available in BMW's Owner's Manual. Or you could visit your local BMW dealer and speak with a knowledgeable representative (I suggest their BMW GENIUS .)

It is, but note the video appears to be a European 7. Wonder why the BMWUSA website has no mention of the feature in the description of the 2019 X-5 and its features, nor in the "build" section of the website? Video of the feature is widely available on youtube, but nothing I can identify as a U.S. X-5. Numerous pre-introduction articles in car mags, websites, and test-drive pieces. But nothing to indicate it actually made it into the U.S. version, until I read The Turtleboy's post above. My question to my BMW salesman is still pending research.

There are many features on the X5 that are not listed on the X5 so it is not surprising. If they listed everything that was on the X5 the build pages would go on forever.

Here is a video done by a US dealer showing the backup assistant.

Actually it's from the manual for my G30 - 2017 540xDrive. I've never had the courage to actually use it to back into a parking space :-(

No, that is not the feature that he is asking about. That is the parking assistant and what he wants if the backup/reversing assistant. It remembers the last 165ft of forward driving and will do the steering for you when you back out of that spot.

Are you sure? That is the automated parking not the reverse assistant?

Of course, you are absolutely correct. I watched just the beginning of the video and assumed the poster knew what I was talking about. My current 430i gran coupe has automated parking; not particularly useful for us. It's the reverse assistant we might find useful.

Have used the automated parking a number of times and I find it helpful and it works very well. It has definitely parked me in spaces that I would not have attempted on my own. I rarely parallel park so it is nice to have it do it for me.

We have a tight width to our garage doors; reverse (backup) assistant could be very helpful.
