What's the Best DIY Ceramic Coating?

I've been detailing cars off and on for nearly 30 years. Did it professionally long ago.
I'm looking for a good DIY ceramic coating?

Preferably something that will last 3-4 years with appropriate maintenance.

What say you wise ones?

Will you tell us just what is "ceramic coating?"

I have been using Doug's DIY Shinola for this is my third year I think. Distilled water, PolyDiMethylSiloxane - PDMS - also known as Dimethicone, and an emulsifier, currently sodium laureth sulfate. A few weeks ago I tried a patch of pure PDMS.

usually this has become shorthand for various silica dioxide based coatings

Yeah, I know. "Silica" and silicon dioxide is sand or glass. A first step in making PDMS is to make fumed Si by passing it through a plasma 'flame'. It is still inert and must be bonded with the active site of a polymer to be useful, hence polydimethyl plus siloxane Si-O-Si functional group. Polyvinyl might be used as well.
