I hope this helps these are the switches for the car Hood , Radio can be unplugged and the system will work the radio switch shown is unplugged the connector is on the side. The doors and truck sensors you can test by pressing them with your finger and trying to set the alarm.
The radio switch or its connector should be in the console get a flashlight and look around it should be there.

Thanks, this thread was handy. I had the same issue, but my issue wasn't related to the radio. Not sure what happened though. The alarm went off at 2 am (I'm sure our neighbors loved us for that), but couldn't find that anyone had done anything. Went back out this morning to look it over in the light, and could find nothing, but the remote wouldn't lock the doors - just got the 3 chirps. I wasn't sure if the two events were connected. However, I just jiggled all the sensors (radio excepted), and it locked with the remote again.

I'm resurrecting this old thread, my 1996 z3 has the alarm siren, when I turn off the key I get the three beeps I have unplugged the radio switch, not the original radio, and I have checked all other switches, I unplugged the hood switch to check, the door switches turn off the interior light so I am guessing they work, and since my battery doesn't run down I am guessing that the trunk switch is good.

I don't have a keyless entry fob but can't see where that would make a difference anyway as for the three beeps when I turn the key off, any suggestions???

Thanks in advance
Terry
