What car? 328? Could be a faulty ignition system component. At the worst, it could be the infamous timing chain failure. Hopefully the former.

It's a 320i now I have discovered that when I open the car using the remote unit, a crackling sound comes out from the bonnet

Hmm. 320 and 328 both have the same engine, so hopefully itís not the aforementioned timing chain issue. Regarding the buzzing sound, Iím not sure. How old is the battery in the car? You would be surprised the fits a car can throw when a battery is on its way out.

The battery is old hey. I think it has had its fair share of life. Thanks for the advise, I will attend to the battery in the morning and advise if the issue was caused mainly by the battery. Thanks a lot

You said in the first post the engine is turning. So I doubt its the battery. You need to read the codes or take it to a shop and have them do it.

An engine can still crank with a low battery, but if the volts or amps coming out of the battery are too low to power the multitude of modules on the car, this can cause codes to be thrown or lights on the dash to become illuminated as well. I would load test the battery myself, as merely checking the static voltage may show that the battery is fine, when it actually may not be.

If the voltage and amps are that low the motor cranks abnormally slow and for only a short time,if at all.
But sure put the car on a charger and give it a try, nothing to loose.

What's up y'all. Quick question, I got a 15 320i and had the drivetrain malfunction light come on twice 2 days apart, engine stalled, I cut it off and it light went away and drove off just fine both times, Also i was on low fuel both times it happened so i thought that's why i got the message. 2 weeks later after keeping it at least above a qtr of gas and it happened again just yesterday but at half a tank...I did same process and light went away and drove off just fine after turning it back on after a couple seconds... what can it be do y'all think ***x1f914; I have the codes when they scanned it after I took it in after the first 2 times, problem is I don't have a scanner. Thanks for the input!

I'm thinking maybe a faulty sensor causing the fuel pump to shut off, thus making my car hesitate and shake and get thrown into neutral.. but after turning it back on, my car drives away just fine
