tire quickies

hi

About to do a lease return, need to replace the factory conti's all season run flats, was just wondering if someone could confirm:

can I replace them with summer run flats? or must they be all season?

I presume it's ok to have 2 tires one brand upfront, and another 2 different brand rear?

are they critical of load and speed ratings if it's close is that still acceptable?

What does your lease say?

Think about finding some used tires that comply with you lease agreement. BestUsedTires.com has a wide selection. BMW lease return compliant tires are a big part of the used tire business.

1. Since the tires need to be the same type and speed rating, you will need to replace them with all seasons. They do not have to be the same brand as what is there from what I remember, but they need to be the same TYPE.

2. Yes, as far as I remember its ok to have the same brand per AXLE so you can have 1 brand on the front pair of tires, and one brand on the back.

3. Yes they are critical of load and speed ratings. tires MUST have at LEAST the same load and speed ratings that your original tires on your lease paperwork (the ones that came with the car) have. This is one thing they will check and ding you for, for sure. Tires cost either 300 each or 400 each on lease return, unless you purchased a lease damage return waiver at lease inception.

Ebay is also a good source for used tires that will match BMW's return specification.

I am pretty sure you need to have the same tires (Brand, model, load rating, etc.) on all 4 wheels, not a different brand on the front vs. rear axle.

eBay is the way to go. There are several vendors. I've made multiple purchases from Galuma's tires.

You should also see what the BMWFS charge is if you return the car with less than 4/32nds of tread left. When you factor in shipping, mounting, balancing, etc., this may be less than the cost of buying used tires off eBay. YMMV.

appreciate the tips, was planning on buying used tires, just wanted to double check so i'll have to stick with all seasons, ok to have diff brands front/rear, maintain speed/load rating. Never thought of checking how much they would charge me to return the tires vs just replacing i'll give them a call, if they charge me less that would be great tnx again for all
