de-laminating trim caused by coffee spill....enjoy

OK I have to share this one. For either a good laugh, or an we go: took my '16 328 to the dealer because the center console around the cup holders and near the hand brake was starting to de-laminate, there were what looked like small veins under the vinyl spray or rubber spray or whatever it is between the actual plastic and the surface you touch. They graciously replaced it under warranty but told me "had we known it was due to a coffee spill we wouldn't have" so either this is a thing and BMW should be embarrassed that a coffee spill can ruin components around a cup holder, and away from the cup holder...or someone is full of it...either way that was a new can cause the material around the cup holder to if you are a coffee drinker, consider installing a cup holder outside the car or something anyhow it was amusing...mind you the failure was near the cup holders and quite a distance away but nothing in between

for clarification, I probably did spill coffee at one time or another, but one did not equal the other. it was not like i spilled coffee and saw the issue arise. it just started to appear one day. in several places, some far removed from where any spill would have occurred. But I thought you guys might find it amusing.

The Soft Touch coating is fragile.
Scepticism and Animal Faith (1923)
Scepticism is the chastity of the intellect, and it is shameful to surrender it too soon or to the first comer: there is nobility in preserving it coolly and proudly through long youth, until at last, in the ripeness of instinct and discretion, it can be safely exchanged for fidelity and happiness.
(The Works of George Santayana p. 65)

Eschew eristical argumentation. I am responsible for what I write, not for your understanding of it.

I wouldn't expect a car interior to hold up to hot liquids.
