F10 / F11 (2011 - 2016)
The sixth generation of the BMW 5 Series Sedan (F10) was produced from 2011 - 2016 with LCI updates arriving in 2014. In the US BMW offered a hatchback 5 Series Gran Truismo (F07) and the rest of the world also go a Station Wagon/Touring version F11.

Well this guy knows the culprit to this water retaining issue. Apparently it's a yellow color sealant grommet in the passenger side of the car. Replace it as he does and then you're good to go.



There is also another way of doing it by removing the carpets but it's a hectic process. There be any DIYers this is a good challenge for y'all. See that video below.

I had similar problem on my 2012 528i. After some tests I realized the reason for the leak is rain water entering through the gap between rubber and rear window glass (small window that doesn't roll down). The original sealant is wearing down and i can see the gap formation. I used Permatex silicone adhesive sealant from Amazon which temporarily solved the issue for around 8 months now.
In order to duplicate the issue, pour a bucket of water just on that part.
