Let's hear good 550i stories

I'm a 2016 550xi m sport with 22,000 trouble free miles: one qt of oil every 5000 miles, coolant level stable, mild highway vibes that are tolerable and otherwise fun to drive.

Hope to hear some positive stories, thx

2013 N63 with about 40K Kilometers. Runs like a dream.

DHP with IAS. ACS springs (still too soft) PSS and a Chassis Brace but on the fence with a chip upgrade as I'm not ready to go to prison just yet.

I enjoy the 600Nm of torque on a daily basis - kind of like cowbell - can't get enough. It's point and shoot - see a gap, punch down and you're there. These are the small bits of 'enjoyment' that make it worth it and I want a steed I can trust on the road doing that.

I just wished it was a little less isolated and connected with the soul more as did the E39.

I'm at 111k miles, used to burn a quart every 1000 miles. I perform the valve seals myself, now at 6800 miles I burn 3/4 of a quart but the gauge shows full due to showing usage after the first quart is gone. Since I didn't go through the first quart yet, it shows full. Yayyyyy.
Plus my oil change is 6-7k so that is awesome.

Jb4 stage 2
Cat less dps
Muffler delete
90 degree thermostat mod
X5M front brake upgrade

Owned for a year and a half so far, love it had it with 76k miles.

This is good stuff. The car is brutally powerful in sport and has so much torque on the highway pulls ...

Owned my 2012 550i since new. Regular service and oil changes at around 5K Vehicle now has 39K and have been great. I did have the N63 CCP done in Nov 2015. although i did not have problems prior and have not since. Runs great. Mostly used for highway miles, no stop/start commuting, which I suspect is the cause of some of the problems experienced with this model. So far so good!

I love my 2014 550i! Great dual personality car in my opinion, when you just want to cruise comfortably the motor can easily move the car with low revs while remaining practically silent. In Sport/Sport+ it's a beast, despite being a huge boat it's still pretty fun to drive and handles surprisingly well for what it is. As an added bonus, I didn't expect to get such great fuel economy. I have been averaging 22-25mpg on my daily commute, which is mostly highway. Of course for a trip around town it's much less than that

I've only owned it for 6 months, but I've already put 12,000 miles on it. Bought at 49k miles, currently at 61k miles. It drinks 1 quart of oil every 2,000 miles but no other issues (yet?).

I love my 550i and have 134,000 miles; ordered it new from the factory. It still burns oil pretty regularly (about 1 quart per 1,000-2,000 miles, depending on how it's driven) and replacing fuel injectors can be expensive but I love driving it. I've had fuel injectors, ignition coils and spark plugs changed many times but the most recent was the first time not covered under warranty. If I can go another 25-30,000 miles without having to do it again, I will be happy. Not many problems other problems that weren't covered by warranty.

It definitely runs better and the fuel injector/spark plug issues seem improved when I switched away from generic 93 octane gas to either Shell or Sunoco 93 octane.

I own a 2016 550i with 19,000 miles. Burger Tuning N63TU Stage One (http://www.burgertuning.com/N63_Jb_B...nce_Tuner.html). Shows close to 500hp in sports display. Can't recall torque but will post later and add car pics. Removed 550i badging on trunk. Replaced all red/orange front/rear reflectors with car color matching inserts of Glacial Silver (https://ind-distribution.com/product?sku=IND-F10-FREF). Pulled charcoal filters off air filter intakes. Told only there to collect exhaust back flow. Not sure if it helps air intake/surely can't hurt. Replaced all interior and license plate lights with LED. Much nicer lighting. Wired Escort 9500IX hidden to right of rear view mirror and wired into overhead panel. Almost un-noticable from the outside. No tickets so far. Sandisk 128gb USB Flash drive (https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Ultra...gb+flash+drive) in center console with all the music I will ever need. Coded car for many things. To list a few, outside mirrors fold/open on door lock/unlock, tire temp shows on tire pressure page, can play movies on screen, trunk open/closes with key fob, screen disclaimers/warnings gone, seat belt warnings gone (always wear them), Econ mode stays off, heads up turn signals, and some others I can't remember.

Car much cleaner looking and super fast, especially in Sport Mode.

Pics to follow tomorrow.

I have a 2014 M Sport with 31k. I bought CPO last Oct with 24k miles. Absolutely no issues. Uses a quart of oil about 2k Miles. I had a 08 535 before this and the power difference is not even close. Maybe 0-60 is close but after this one shifts into 3rd gear itís over. My CPO is over in April and Iíll probably buy an extended warranty and keep for another couple of years.

Let's hear good 550i stories

My baby... 2015 w/M package, 19,500 miles. Change rims and tires also bought a second set of Mitchlen pilot sport for the winter. No tints, no lowering, just added M performance decals on side skirts, and getting ready to add trunk lip. Havenít done to much and donít plan on it either. Maintenance wise only oil change and cabin air filter. Fingers crossed running very smooth. Click image for larger version

2011 550 ix, almost 95K mi. Overall best car I've owned. Love the smooth quiet ride with instant brutal straight line power, and responsive yet heavy steering. Good stereo, comfortable seats and awesome all-wheel drive capability in all conditions (with the pirelli sotos of course). Only issues were a faulty key fob, the N63 CCP, new starter, all covered by warranty. Trouble free over the past 5yrs. Just changed the rear pads/rotors at 90K even though there was still 3mm, fronts still have plenty left. Oil q5K mi, brake flush once at 60 K mi, that's about it. I probably need to change the spark plugs soon. Does anyone have the specs for the plugs? Part # and torque?

Got my 2014 550i, N63TU at 16Kmile CPO and now is 54K miles, No major issue yet. Just last few months got check engine light came on. The Driving normal, no power lost or anything but I took to dealer and they did the check and said the hardness bank 1 with high resistant and replaced it (cost me $50 deductible). Hope I can keep her till 100K miles.

Oil drinking 550 maybe good running car but I will never buy a car like it. I have Lexus LS400 in 10,000 miles of driving, that doesn't even take half qt.

My 2016 550i with 17K miles has been ok other than excessive oil burning, and a couple of minor issues (not related to the engine).

Dude, I don't know where you come from that you compare BMW vs Lexus. Driving the Lexus LS400 just like you're riding on the boat. I switched from my old Lexus 2008 IS F to BMW and I never back to Lexus again.

Well, go ahead and pat yourself on the back. Not everybody values a transportation appliance. Before you can appreciate what a BMW is you have to understand complexity is the enemy of reliability.
