2006 3.0si exhaust suggestions

OK have had the 3.0si for about 2 months now. Came sans muffler. Looking under I see where appears to be two SS pipes were installed, not sure exactly where the stock muffler is installed. Yea it sounds MEAN and racy with all the pops and gurgles. But there are times around town when I don't get on it because it is so loud and we do have muffler laws here, although not tightly enforced.

Any suggestions on a reasonable performance muffler/resonator that would tone it down a little, still give me a mean sound. Don't know about performance gain/loss as it seems that is a REAL debatable subject.

I dont have any aftermarket suggestions but the oem system on the Si sounds pretty good and I wouldnt want to drown out the lovely roar of that 2-stage intake. You could pick one up pretty cheap off a salvage, and it will probably last forever.

Thereís a magnaflow that fits back there. Not expensive and good sound. You should be able to search the forum for a model number. Iím assuming you donít want to spend $1000 plus but if you do there are several high end systems that would work.

Correct, just something to tone it down just a bit. Apparently there is the backbox and then something in the middle section. All I have is the cat converter.

Will search the Magnaflow

What he said! I love the sounds of my 3.0si! Plenty of gurgles too.

You don't recall the particular one do you?

Checked with a local good muffler shop the really good BMW service guy here recommended. He said best that I buy myself, endorsed Magnaflow, and he would install. $250 - $400 depending on what they run into, being the back box and should be not be any issues so probably the $250.
