E63 / E64 6 Series (2004 - 2010)
The E63/E64 BMW 6 Series builds on BMW's sporty heritage with aggressive lines and an incredible motor to back the design up. Available in coupe and convertible trims with a standard 4.8 liter engine producing 360 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque, the 6-series is a popular choice that exceeds expectations.

Had it happen to me as a result of a bad navigation map DVD. I had bought a bootleg version on eBay and it did just what you describe. Put the original BMW one back in and never had the problem occur again. Could be the drive itself...

Mein Auto: 2005 645 Ci manual
There are a couple other threads here about this same subject. I also experienced similar symptoms to you. Nav DVD was not the problem for me. It was the CCC. With some advice from here, I ultimately sent it to a guy in Texas (www.bmwlogicseven.com) and he fixed the problem. Cost somewhere between $500 and $600. His website is quite helpful and explains how to get the CCC out of the car and shipped safely and inexpensively. I think this guy really knows his way around the Nav/Com/audio part of the car and very willing to share his knowledge.
