Totaled 550i / part out

my baby was totaled few weeks ago got rear ended, rear frame was bent in including the trunk lid and tail lights and a few other things, repairs went over $10k. She was at 207k.

couldn't grab much off the car to part out since most stuff i sold to the insurance.

Things I have left for sale is:
RPI Scool (red)
Mtech v3 AE
knock sensors (NEW) pair
Coolant pipe (NEW) (uro)
WP pipe (NEW)
Valley pan (NEW)
Double Line kidney grill with M colors (Gloss black) fairly new no chips or signs of wear
AMR TUNE - ($299) will need to be purchased from company for the tune, make your offer for the device thats needed, I paid $600 all together.

OBO i can ship to where ever

if you're wondering what route i'm taking, i'm joining the n54 guys.

it's been fun guys, appreciate everyone who helped me.

yes i could of bought the car back but repairs would of still been high and it's already at 207k with a ticking bomb of the alt gasket so to me i dodged a bullet.

First, sorry to hear this. N54 is a good path, I think. Which model?

i have some cars in mind and looked at already so we'll see.

good path ? for power yes, reliability not too sure, but what bmw doesn't need attention. Im not going too crazy on adding power mods, since that wears and tears down the components over all, i just want my 360 hp back and ill be fine, and spending $200 will do just that and thats at the wheels not crank.

I think you'll be hooked on boost mods after your first one. I almost bought a gorgeous 2008 e92 335i before purchasing my 550i. If I had spent on the 335i what I spent on 550i it would be a completely upgraded N54 by now.

If I had enough money, I would go for a B58. It's a significant improvement over N turbo engines and makes like 450hp with a tune.

There's also supercharged audis. Top mounted in the V so easy maintenance. A pulley and a tune and it pulls like a freight train to redline.

Or if you want to stay E60 maybe you can find an M5.

e60 m5 is def not in my price range plus maintenance is just crazy, i know n54 is probably the same but itís a lot of info out more than the v10 in my opinion.

yea iíve weighed out my options already, once check clears iím picking the e90 up.

i didnít want another e60 because iíve already had two and i just couldnít get anywhere with power.

i could of went with a 535i but i didnít want another e60 lol plus why go with a heavier car (n54) and you can be quicker in a e9x

i just wanted something diff and with power in my price range.

550i made me want to explore more power.

335i's are really fast with working wastegates, a tune, and intercooler. You'll eat your tires, though. 335xi would be my choice, so you can get the power down.

My buddy is still sad he sold his 335i. It accelerated scary fast. I think a set of rear tires lasted him a year but he was spinning tires on the highway in 2nd gear. And 3rd gear. And 4th gear. And 5th gear.

I think you'll be happy with one. Just get one with new turbos or expect to replace them.

I'd go RB, myself. But it sounds like he'll be fine with stock turbos for a while. Honestly, though, my buddy welded on some new tighter wastegate flaps and the car gained like 50 HP from the fixed boost leaks. There's retrofit kits available.
Do Pure turbos have an upgraded wastegate? RBs do. I'd love to see some specs on Pure turbos. RB it's all laid out. https://www.rbturbo.com/products/335i/335i

We'll still be here in E60 forum to help out with your N54. An E90's basically the same car. I've pulled plenty of parts off of E90s for my E60s.

I was thinking, something that often gets overlooked is the PCV valve. I think I'm going to do mine preventatively, they're only like $30 and easily accessible.

sweet thanks !

car is pretty good, it hasnít been driven as much so on the way home from purchase it had idle jumps, so i been opening her up / spirited drives to wake up her a bit.

after drive cycle was done,
I do have 2 pending codes
p2297
p0139

braking at 120mph it has a little shimmer in steering wheel but not that much, i have had worse shimmer in my 530i.

car could really use a good wax job as well.

You have an intact oil cooler on your 550?
I'm also looking for a few of the underside panels if they fit a 545i

just an update for you guys,

car is running good, after tuning to stage 1+ had a boost leak code, but its been solved. She's running fine with 0 codes, and pulls hard, way harder than the 550. Its insane... and shifts so quick.

-MHD stage 1+ stock inter cooler
-ARM charge pipe
-ARM DCI's
-Silicon vacuum lines

thats what ive done so far....

Do an intercooler when you can. I haven't, yet, but it really keeps the heat soak in check. It will pull hard all day long.

The belt eater club is more exclusive than you might think, reserved for a select group of people who only open their hood when smoke comes out.
