Golf tee mod deja vu

Over the years i have read about the golf tee mod. I guess you just disconnect a vaccum line at the muffler or disconnect the accuator plug in the rear light access area in the trunk.
So, those of you who tried it are you still using it or was it a short term gimmick to add throaty tones to the muffler?
I have a n52/e93 66k miles.

My son unplugged the actuator right after we bought the car, then the following summer I was working in the trunk and saw something unplugged so I reconnected it. After a couple of days I realized how quiet the car was and remembered that plug was the "golf tee mod" for the 335 so I unplugged it again. That was about 2 years ago and I have no plans of ever reconnecting it again.

Mine is still modded, put it back for a while last year, but the flap rattles on startup and sounds terrible so went back to always open!

People with the coupe (me) and convertible almost always liked it and left it after doing it (in my case, I unplugged the connector instead of capping the vacuum line).

People with the sedan often started complaining about exhaust drone after a while.

N54/55 only. It opens the outlet for the left muffler.
