E82 / E87 / E88 / F20 1 Series (2008 - 2014)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by a naturaly aspirated inline 6 in the 128 or the turbo twin power inline 6 rocket sled 135.

BMW Business CD Player

Hi All,

Can anyone answer this quicky? My wife has a BMW 118d 2008 that has a BMW Business stereo. Can this be fitted with a CD Auto Changer? I bought and fitted an emulator that allows an iPod connection, but although it charges the iPod I get no sound when the iPod plays. I've tried coding in the CDC with NCS Expert but it does not appear to take the changes.

Any help appreciated!

Cheers,
Ripface

Update

I managed to get "CDC;nicht_aktiv" to be "CDC;aktiv" by inserting $672 into the NFRM and CAS modules and performing a sg_reset on the 1RAD.

Hoorah!

Unfortunately this *still* does not work, and worse than that the beeps from the Park Distance Control can no longer be heard!!

Any hints or tips on the way forward, or will I be best removing $672 and sg_reset to put it back the way it was?

Cheers,
Ripface

I canít find a clear answer online but from my experience sg_reset doesnít code the module, it just reboots it. Youíll need to do sg_codieren with an empty psw_fsw.man file for $672 to take hold.

Hey Mr. Bean,

Thanks for the feedback. The sg_reset should force the module to re-read the VO and pull any changed information from there. This does appear to work ok, as the 1RAD module changed the CDC line item from "nicht_aktiv" to "aktiv" and all I did was sg_reset. Pulling the VO from CAS and NFRM also now shows the $672 applied.

As it happens I'm going to back out the $672 as it appears to have fooked the park distance control sounds.

Why is life never easy!!

: )

Cheers,
Ripface.

Welp, you can try modifying the trc file manually. Download ncsdummy, it makes this task much easier as it translates most of the German.

Hey Mr. Bean,

Yeah, my German is definitely nicht aktiv! From some more googling, and trawling the module descriptions in NCS Dummy it appears I'm on a hiding to nowhere. Think I'll just have to go back to using the AUX IN for the iPod and my better half will just need to forget about the tempting steering wheel controls.

Cheers,

Hmmsville,

Now that I have removed the $672 from CAS and NFRM and re-run the SG_RESET against 1RAD, the 1RAD module is again showing "nicht_aktiv" against CDC. The park distance control is still not functioning. I re-checked the 1RAD module and PDC is set to "aktiv", not sure what else to do now.

Guess I'm in trouble!! I've broken the missus' car ....

Inpa

Hmm,

It seems that the PDC module is not responding in NCS Expert or INPA. Is there anything I could have done to cause the module to be unresponsive.

I would suggest loading NCS with factory coding profile and recode all the modules (process car job).

Hey Mr. Bean,

Thanks for the suggestion, but if the module is not responding to either INPA or NCS Expert, will any attempt at recoding, even with the factory coding profile, make any difference?

Cheers,
