Get a ticket from Boston to the Roanoke Regional airport. Have this dude meet you at said airport, drive him back home, drive it to NOVA, get drunk with me, wake up and drive the rest of the way home nursing a mild hangover in your sweet new car.

Foolproof plan IMO.

EDIT: I do like the red on gray color combo quite a bit. I have a feeling that you'll end up spending $12-13k to get the car you really want, however, as we all know, there's nothing more expensive than a cheap BMW, so if you manage to find a completely sorted, lowish mileage, well-loved car, maywithbe i all the right option boxes checked that make it a little special, then t's worth paying a bit more for it.for it.

A $13-14k car, with the 5-series and maybe a bit of walking around money as a down payment is going to land you in the ~$225/mo payment range. For a car that isn't going to depreciate aggressively, that's pretty cheap. I borrowed $10,500 for 48 months to buy the GTI and my payment came out to $220 I think.

EDIT: This was not a new post not an edit. Oops.

I love the plan Joey.

I still feel that an 03 with 110,000 miles shouldn't be $13.5k. But, it is what it is!

Step one: Get taxes filed and paid
Step two: Find IR ZHP
Step three: Buy
Step four: Sleep on couch for a week until wife forgives me
Step five: Make up sex
Step six; Bimmerfest
Step seven: Beg wife to not divorce me- involve FIL

Now that's a solid plan. What you need to do to take it from "solid" to "evil genius" is figure out how to somehow blend steps 4 and 5. A new car and angry sex in the same week? If that's wrong I don't wanna be right.

EDIT: Woo! Join the club! How fast were you going?

I swear the cops were out for blood in VA last weekend. I can't believe I was ticket free for my first 8 years of driving, then I get 2 tickets inside of 6 months. Ugh.

So I was going 60 in a 45 but I was going with the flow of traffic and I also "had a dangerous lane change". I have to pay $180

Patrick...that looks like a beauty. You are going to pay a $2k-$3k upcharge on a ZHP. Personally, I'd do a 330i and do a custom tune. ACE Performance said the 330s are better for tuning or SC anyways. And you could get one much cheaper or with lower miles. But if you want a ZHP, that's not a bad price, particularly considering he's done a LOT of the 'midlife crisis' work. And trust me, as someone who tried to comprise on her dream car by getting Snowy....just go for the car you want now. You'll be much happier in the end. (you did see it's a slicktop, right??)

Joey, the z4 is pretty comfy, but I'm not a big fan of the red with wood interior. The matte silver trim is super duper sexxxy, though. And trust me, you don't want it for a winter driver. I feel cramped inside with the top up, and you've got another foot on me! But eventually, get one. They are a nice cruiser with a bit of BMW kick

Yeah I'm not actually shopping. It's a temporary lust for a droptop because my old roommate from college has decided to start shopping for a Z3 M roady and he's got me all worked up over it.

In reality it just doesn't make sense to have two RWD, out of warranty, 2-seater (the E36s rear seat is more like a storage shelf) finicky German cars at this point in my life.

They'd either bankrupt me or run me ragged with repairs, and once the initial love affair with a roadster wore off, dealing with downright awful visibility and a creaky top in the winter would get really old, really fast.

I will almost certainly stay the course and keep putting miles on the MKV, and consider leasing an MKVII when they come out this summer, or perhaps a CPO Golf R. The turbohatch package is almost too perfect of a stablemate to the M3, every time I dream about something different I go on a 3-day loop and end up right back where I started.

That would be a $500-$600 ticket in CA. Count your blessings.

If you are talking about a z3, fuhgedaboutit. The were small for me, even with the top down. I think you'd have a super hard time getting in and out of it. It's tossable, yes, but I don't think you'd every be able to get any comfortable leg position in that car. If you want to think about another BMW sinkhole, I think the z4m (yum, yum) is what you should save your pennies for

I have read nothing but really good reviews on the upcoming 2015 TDI. Can't wait to see it live!

I has N52, smooth as butter, very good engine. HOWEVER, it's HP and TQ numbers in the pre-LCI E90 are kind of embarrassing... 215hp 185tq couple that with AWD and the associated weight and it feels like a much larger, much less swift car. I did read though that it actually edges out the E46 330i/Xi to 60 and 100 (with manual trans)

After 3 years, I finally ordered fender liners for my car.. Now lets see how long it takes for them to rip off! Also got a new outer door handle assembly. Soooo not looking forward to that. My friend is letting me use his garage so I can do it in the warmth along with the valve cover gasket.

After driving my car yesterday for the first time in almost 2 months, it reminded me how much stuff still needs to be done after the paint job ordeal!

The si in the Z4 is 265HP and 232 ft lb torque.......at 2750 rpm. Matches the S54 Hp and torque curves up to about 6K, then it plateaus while the S54 climbs to it's 333 peak at 8K.

Speaking Of Speeding tickets, Last Week on night shift I got bored in the wee hours of the morning and had fun pulling over people for brake lights being out.

One kid even knew why I pulled him over and had the bulbs in his hand lol.

What do you do in that situation Matt? Like if someone finds out/realizes/is told they have a light out, they buy one, then get pulled over before they get home to their tools to replace it?

I gave a verbal warning. The other guy I pulled over received a written warning.

Both pretty much mean nothing, but pulling over people early in the morning for burnt out bulbs is a good way to DUI check.

BTW, surprised my GF this weeked, she said yes.

Thanks for the message Ed!
