Radio question

I just bought a 2010 335i convertible and I have what may be a stupid question regarding the radio. When I turn off the car the radio continues to play until I lock the door. That is very annoying. Can I change that to where it turns off when I get out of the car? I guess I could just push the power button but I don't want to do that every time I stop somewhere.

I think many would consider that a feature.

You can change it with E-Sys to turn off when ignition is turned off.

If you hold the start/stop button a little longer it will also shut off the radio. At least that's how it works on my 2013 335 IS

Push the start button a second time.
The start button cycles between Start accessorizes on an full off.
Your to lazy to push the start button a second time?
Also when you lock the car it will turn off the radio , through the fob or comfort
access.
Read the manual.

Sorry I dont think there is a way to set it up like that the new 5 series has the option to set it up where you open the door and it will shut off the car all the way. Check under your idrive settings and see if you might be able to set that up but i think that is a newer option.

The whole reason behind my inquiry was because I park in my garage and don't lock the car. I guess I just need to get used to pushing the power button on the radio when I get out. No big deal. I am just used to my other vehicles radios turn off when I exit the car.

E-Sys? Could you elaborate some. I am a rookie on this. My last BMW was a 2003 3 series and it did not have these options. Thanks

I know what you mean, there are allot of smart a$$es on this forum, sad really. I am on a Corvette and Mercedes forums as well and they seem to be more helpful and mature. Happy Easter!

You are better off to lock the car every time as it will help your
battery live a longer life.

There is no E-sys on a e90 I think that didn't come alone till the f30
if its the method you use to program the car through the OBD vs e sys.

The manual can be downloaded online

Its frustrating that people are so helpless.

Got I-Drive?
I think you can configure it there.
My 335XI (without Comfort Access) radio off when I remove key fob from cash.

I don't know what all years and models it works on but it's a computer program to be able to go into your BMW computer and enable or disable options. On my 17' X3 (F25) one of the portions was to turn radio off with ignition.

Look into the coding forum on here and there's cheat sheets galore on coding and E-Sys.

coding is supported on the e90 at the coding boards but it doesn't
use the E-sys it uses a k/dcan or icom cable .
There are a rash of f2x people droping in on this board lately and giving
f2x advice or asking F2x question that does not apply to the E9x .

IF . . . you don't hit the on / off button twice, it will go off when
1. lock the vehicle with fob
2. auto off in 8 - 10 minutes

three options . . . . and the winner is ?
