iDrive controller not working - need help with diagnosis and P/N

Hi I purchased a used 2012 x5 not too long ago.
Today the iDrive controller stopped working - buttons, round knob, nothing works.

The screen seems to function ok because I can use some voice commands to move the selections on the screen. The iDrive seems clean and console underneath is clean and I don't see any signs of liquid spills but I don't know the previous history since I just bought the car.

I tried everything from resetting the iDrive system, removing iDrive completely and opening it up and using electronic contact cleaner, and I also unplugged car battery for reset.

Before I spend more money to buy a replacement iDrive, can someone please help me with a few questions:
1) In my case no buttons or knob work. Is it most likely the iDrive or could it be something else like the wiring?
2) Is there anything else I can try? Is there a fuse for the iDrive and if so which number is it.
3) My iDrive P/N is 9334611, I checked eBay and I see some P/Ns are 9205177 or 9285443 but they look exactly the same. Can I use those too? Also there are some being sold but with mounting brackets.

Thank you so much for your help.

Could be as simple as a connection issue or failed controller due to a spill or shear bad luck.
I think you need to have a look see under that controller. Hopefully itís simple. Failure of the controller seems rather rare but a spilled slushy / venti pumpkin spice latte / Franzia / Coors light by the PO could have done it.

I took apart the controller and also looked under the console and I can't see any indication of any spill but can never tell. that was my concern as well because didn't think the controller just fails on its own so wondering if there is something else i can check like a fuse or.....

FWIW..BMW part numbers are arranged as 11 digits
Xx-xx-x-xxx-xxx
The first 4, xx-xx are basically the main group and sub group. Like 'electronics' and 'idrive'... 'or drivetrain' then 'transmission'

The first 4 are usually NOT placed on the part itself.

Doug give you the full part number

II am NOT a fan of eBay, Unless you are shopping for used parts.

This is what controller and console looks like. Don't see any obvious liquid spill damage but who knows.

UPDATE: The new iDrive controller I ordered came in yesterday, I plugged it in, and it still does not work. ARGH!!

I started checking the fuse boxes with the fuse diagram and notice I don't have all the fuses as shown in the fuse diagrams. Are we supposed to have them all? For example, F119 and F142 both say Multimedia control module but I only have a fuse for F142.

Can someone be so kind as to post a photo of their passenger and trunk fuse boxes? That way I can tell if I am truly missing some fuses, one that hopefully fixes my iDrive?

Doug! Thanks to you so much I got the iDrive working again!
Turns out someone had put the 10A in Fuse 7 slot instead of Fuse 6, so I just moved it and it works!
Do you know if Fuse 7 does anything? It looks like Tire Pressure and Cruise Control?

If so I'll go buy a 5A Fuse for Fuse 7 since that's what it is rated for.

Learn to use NewTIS and its schematic wiring diagrams. The component identifications on the WD are links to location images and more information.
