Wheel locks

What are some decent wheel locks? Does getting two different sets make it harder to get off? With the right defeat device how easy is it to compromise, how loud is it, and how quickly can it be done. I've heard of people putting Hondas on bricks overnight, at least those that park on the street. Would these people us brute strength or have a collection of master keys?

I park my staggered 20's in my garage.

Wheel locks

My approach:
- my insurance covers theft
- alarm detects vehicle tilt too (try it)
- the average scissorjack that you can hide under a hoodie or in a backpack does not raise the X5 enough to get the rear wheels off the ground.
- you will loose the key

In brief; just donít worry.

Oh and yes; the popular method is to hammer a regular bit that just (not) fits on the bolt.

Wheel locks are going to stop the opportunistic thief. They won't stop a determined thief who wants your specific set of wheels. I think one set is fine -- that's enough to stop the opportunistic thief.

Personally, I removed the lug locks off of my cars & just made sure I had good theft insurance. Sometime, new wheels & tires would be a good thing for you, not necessarily for the insurance company. As mentioned above, a professional will get the wheels off even with locks.

For some years my SiL was Chef at Cafe Selmarie on North Lincoln Ave. in Ravenswood, Chicagoland. When we dined there we would take daughter's twenty year old Civic and leave the X5 in the garage out in the 'burbs.

Now he is at Burnsie's Uptown in Libertyville.

I got an older low mileage car(with a warranty) for that very reason so I don't have to worry about it as much but with anything worth selling is worth stealing even with things of age.

If i get wheel locks any brands come to mind?

I'll look at my insurance coverage but my account have been absent of any claims for a long time and ideally would like to keep it that way until its a no brainer claim.

Check out these thugs. I still come across info that someone is at it again along with the catalytic convertors thieves.

McGard HIGH security wheel locks. Outer ring spins, cannot do the socket method as easily.

BUT order a second key..if you lose a key, $$$$ to remove.

OE is Original Equipment aka 'BMW Original Parts' aka 'What you buy at the BMW dealer with a BMW label'

OEM is Original Equipment Manufacturer... EITHER the company that made the OE part or.... A part this is identical to the OE part, but is sold by the OEM under their own label

OEM is not what BMW sells
