Says it's a local car, but they sent me the carfax and this X5 came from Kentucky. Carfax looks decent, 1 owner, regular servicing. It did have some control arms replaced, not sure what that was about? Says no accidents......

Local dealer picked it up at auction and they're selling it as a Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle.

Vehicle serviced
Pre-delivery inspection completed
Maintenance inspection completed
Battery charged
Vehicle washed/detailed
Cabin air filter changed
Tire(s) replaced

Assuming my wife likes it and wants to take it home, what should we be looking to spend on CPO WRAP Platinum? We currently live in town and her commute is only 5 miles. But we are looking hard at building on a piece of land nearly 40 miles outside of the city. So either way the enhanced warranty coverage would be nice piece of mind. She'd either run out the clock on it or rack up the remaining 60k miles in a little over 3 years.

Is there any fine print surprises I'm missing in the extended warranty? Looks pretty straight forward.

I've had my eye on this for a couple weeks and figured I'd better come on here and ask the experts. If that's a bit strong then fine, I'm just asking those who know more than I do _a_

You'll probably get more response if you post in the F15 forum -> https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/fo...play.php?f=179

Car looks clean but I'm not sure about extended warranty etc.

Good luck!

+1. I got mine in December '18 and now have 11K on it, but I have been on three very long trips. That said, the engine is just at break-in range with that mileage...

A few things:

What warranty are you talking about, the CPO or some kind of paid extension? CPO now is 5 years unlimited miles, not six years or 100K like it was previously.

What's the inservice date of car? That is the date the warranty runs from, probably sometime in late 2017, giving you full warranty until late 2021 and then a year of CPO.

Diesels are less common, at least out here. So factor that in. Usually CPOs are returned leases, not auction purchases. I'd research and find out as much as possible.

The car will come with run flat performance summer tires. Is that what you need/want? Can't run them in winter/cold weather.

Suggest you carefully review the CPO checklist, and the warranty service report.

Small stuff that disappoints my wife - no remote start, and high beam assist only comes with the $1,900 LED lighting package.

GL!

Car looks very nice, mileage is within norm for a diesel (20k/year). It is 2018 so worst case you have time to extend warranty till sometime in 2020. Buy it and then decide unless you need to finance it.

I just got a 2018 35d with under 8k miles on it. Love the car but disappointed in BMW's ala carte options. Go over the options several times. Ask to see documentation. Search the vin # in BMW vin # decoder and translate if needed every line until you are sure what you are getting what you are not getting. We got surround view cameras WITHOUT blind spot monitoring. BSM is standard equipment on a 35k cars for crying out loud !?

Right, this is why my wife insisted on Driver Assist Plus. She was unmoved by my argument that properly adjusted side mirrors eliminate blind spots.

In this car she is right. I need to install some convex dots on the mirrors like it was 1980. This is the only manufacture I know of who sells an expensive luxury car without these options standard. It's crazy IMHO

I say "splurge" and throw down the "benjamins" for the BMW wide angle mirrors that the Euro markets get. Again, the US DOT smacks down the offering of these MUCH better mirrors for the US market. They require a 1:1 ratio (aka "plain" mirror) on the driver's side...with the use of a convex mirror on the passenger side (with its prerequisite warning printed along the bottom).

I've upgraded to the aspherical (wide angle) mirrors on all my BMWs starting with my 1995 525iT. Even with the mirrors adjusted correctly...the wide angle mirrors offer a 45 viewing area next to the car vs the 17 viewing area with the plain 1:1 viewing ratio mirror mandated by the US DOT.

-

In the pics below...you can see how much more is visible in my f06 650ix GC when you compare what's in the background as well as the number of parking spaces that can be seen behind/besides the car when comparing the original mirrors with the BMW Euro wide angle mirrors.

You can shop for them by their 11 digit BMW part number...just use one of the online part database sites like www.realoem.com & enter info exactly for your car except shop on the EURO side of the part database. Using your model/model year/build date info helps get the correct mirrors for you car as well as being correct for them options you may have (heat/EC-auto dip/etc):

{driver's side original vs wide angle}

{passenger's side original convex vs wide angle}

You MUST buy the european aspherical mirrors that they put on these in the rest of the world. Find a set on eBay for $200 or less for the factory asphericals and you will love them. It's the first "mod" I did to my X5d....
