transfer case faults

55c6- "oil wear" (*i have not tried to clear this or reset it directly, i did change the oil a few years back)

55c4- "no message from DSC" (*this seems to be a software issue? seems like the conclusion any one any thing to comment about this?)

5ebo- "steering angle"

a non numbered " LWS slider" fault

and a non numberd "SVT ECU internal" fault

so... what? i need a dcs control module? This is like the pre charge pump fault on the e39?

I too have the oil wear code, even though I've already changed the TC fluid with OEM BMW fluid a couple months ago.

BMW Scanner and INPA can't seem to clear it. Let me know if you figure out how to do it.

There is a lot of speculation on this but I believe the oil wear parameter is simply a counter and is not adaptive in any way. Short version, it can be ignored.

I have not been able to find an oil condition sensor in the E83 transfer case. Will someone please link to one or to a source of the 54C6 DTC.

This is the only mention that I could find in NewTIS ...

"In event of fault memory entry "54C6" change transfer case oil."
