I am the only owner and have maintained this car since the day the warranty ran out. I'm more than capable of tearing this engine down and all that.

I have clogged ports. I'm not about to go through the hassle of cleaning and drilling the ports. No way. I have two kids under two years old and don't have time for that. I will also NOT be taking this car to any Indy to do it.

My main question is has anyone successfully changed the VO to a European NB31?(I think) and had this feat of engineering genius that is the SAS stop throwing a SES light? I don't live in a emissions testing state. I plan on deleting cats in the future (way down the road). Is there anyway to disable the SAS system in Winkfp? Sorry if this has been answered but I've been scouring the forums for days and days and can't seem to find a good answer for my 05 545i N62. Thanks guys n gals!

Edit: spelling

Don't think you need Winkfp for changing the VO, I use NCSEXPER to change VO items. With that being said, don't think you have any to loose by just giving it a try and replace NB33 with NB31 and see if it does what you're asking. Am not familiar with Carly enough to know if that's an easier method or not if you're not familiar with bmw tools suite.

Yeah I'm gonna give it a shot as far as changing the VO and see what happens.

I should've been more clear by what I meant it Winkfp. What I meant was if anyone knew where this particular system resides in the vehicles programming data so that I might find it and removed it completely from the daten.

Please report back on this as we have the same car. I get P0491 and P0492 ever so often and I simply clear it. I don't have clogged ports and my injection pump works. It may be a vacuum leak from hoses going to each Bank or maybe a bad solenoid.

I don't need emissions for where the car is registered so I would like to code out the secondary injection and block off the ports on the engine if possible.

Wanted to wait a few days to see if it came back after a few cold starts. No SES light after the VO change to European model. Depends on your car. I pulled the model number of realOEM when selecting a car to look up parts for just change it from US model to Euro left hand drive. The model code will change. For example my 05 545i was NB33 and it changed to NB31 (or visa versa can't remember). Deleted DME errors and all is well now.

Cool!!, thanks for the follow up. I have just started to get the secondary air pump giving me faultcodes as well so I would prefer to change the VO rather than fix that.
Thx again.

I had my indy code out the secondary air injection in my 545I manual . He charged me $50 bucks. I gave him $100. I just did the valve stem seals but I didn't bother with the ports either.

My indy told me he couldn't code out the sec air injection through the OBDII port. He had to open up the DME and connect to pins inside the box. The fact that he charged me so little makes me believe him.

Can you share that Indy contact info. I need to find out what was done so I relate that to a Indy here in Dallas TX.

Just wanted a little clarification and a few questions:

You used NCSexpert to edit the VO,
Removed NB33
Added NB31 ?

Which modules did you code after for the VO change to take affect ?

Has the check engine light come back ?

If you check OBD monitors: does it say SA not applicable or does it say ready now ?

When you look up the nb31 on realoem, it shows a secondary air pump for that vehicle. What does changing the nb31 do ?

Thank you.
