M5 ED and speed limiter decoding question

Hi,

We are in Europe at the moment with our M5 Comp, and the car is through the first break in service. I did notice the speed of the car is limited to 250 km/h. I was hoping to be able to experience the top speed of the car at least once in my life while on this trip.

A small local BMW dealership, that did the service, said this would void the warranty. Anyone with experience in this? It seams this small dealership is not on top of things, especially dealing with the details of the US warranty as it is very different from what the EU cars get.

Thanks!

No firsthand experience here, but I have heard the same thing from dealers in the US. More specifically to the tune of "if you don't pay to have the limiter removed with the $2500 M Package when the car is ordered, the warranty is void if it is removed after."

Again, this is just what I've heard from 2 dealers I randomly discussed this with in Atlanta. So that dealer in Europe may be correct in what they've told you.

To follow up on my own questions. Yup I forgot to read the M driver package for $2,500. I thought it was only the driving experience for 1 day. That came with two of our prior cars and I never could find the time to attend. That option unlocks the limiter as well. Going 250 km/h a few times was enough for me so no big regrets on not seeing 320 km/h.
