7 Series - G11 / G12 (2016 - current)
The next generation G11/G12 BMW 7 Series flagship forum. Unveiled June 10th, with production starting in August the 6th generation 7 Series comes in a light weight package with extensive use of BMW i carbon fiber technology. The interior quality raises the bar with a touch screen and gesture controlled infotainment system. Exterior styling has been a sticking point with mixed reviews so far.

BMW Certified Preowned warranty and extended warranties

Hello everyone, I am going to purchase CPO 2017 750I Xdrive very soon. I am looking to purchase a vehicle with low mileage (ex. 15000-20000 miles or less) because I drive about 13000 miles a year. The original warranty is 4yrs/50000 then it comes with a maintenance plan which is 3yrs/36000 miles. ( Are maintenance plans transferable to the 2nd owner) Which I can extend to 48000 miles. The car would also come with a Certified Preowned warranty which is 1yr unlimited miles. What is the option to extend the warranty on a CPO 2017 7 series up to 100K miles? I want a peace of mind to know that I don't have to worry for major maintenance. If what I'm saying is wrong about the warranty please provide clarity and explain the different warranties that would cover my future CPO 2017 BMW 750I xdrive. Thank you

The 36 month maintenance plan is NOT transferrable other than to a household member, so you will not be getting that. Your warranty will run 48 months from the date the original owner put the car in service (or 50,000 miles). So for a 2017, you could run out in less than a year. (My '17 was delivered in November 2016, for example, and its warranty will expire November 2020). The CPO will extend for a year after the original warranty expires. You don't say how long you intend to keep the car, but there are a variety of plans from BMW and others that will cover major repairs for terms of years/miles. You say you don't want to worry about "major maintenance". "Maintenance" is a defined term and is different from repairs. There are extended maintenance plans as well as extended warranties; for extended maintenance, you are likely not saving a lot of money as the plans essentially are prepaying for maintenance (oil, lube, brakes etc.). Lots of plans do not cover batteries, and some do not cover brake pads. Extended warranties are a form of insurance and peace of mind can be expensive to buy. It is impossible to give you any more information without having a specific plan to compare.

You might get lucky and find a car with 15-20,000 miles, but lots of these cars are leased for 3 years (the 17's will be coming off lease now) and most (but not all) are 30,000 or 36,000 mile leases). Some, however (like mine) were 22500 mile leases and that is what you should be looking for (when I turn mine in -- soon -- I will probably have 19000-20000).

Good luck.
