E63 / E64 6 Series (2004 - 2010)
The E63/E64 BMW 6 Series builds on BMW's sporty heritage with aggressive lines and an incredible motor to back the design up. Available in coupe and convertible trims with a standard 4.8 liter engine producing 360 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque, the 6-series is a popular choice that exceeds expectations.

Help with a 2008 650i convertible

Hello!! I'm new to the group and am in need of some help..

I have a 2007 650i. The splash guard and the transmission splash guard were soaked in oil, so I removed them and threw them away. My problem is that I'm trying to replace the transmission splash guard, but I can't find anywhere that even recognizes that one exists...including my local BMW dealership. Can someone give me a part number?

Thanks,

Tom

Welcome to Bimmerfest, Tom!

I moved your question to the E63/E64 forum (6 Series, 2004-2010) where you should get some help.

Take a look here.

Why did you bin them instead of just jet washing or cleaning them off, were they also damaged in some way?

Thank you for all the help.

I've found the parts lists that show the belly pan, but when I spoke to the dealership I was told that the part doesn't apply; even though it comes up as a part for the car.

That's strange because the transmission splash guard part number/s stayed the same throughout the entire E63/64 production run and that's 630, 645 and 650 both Europe and USA, I think you need them to clarify what they mean by "does not apply". Do they think you don't have that part on your car or is the part not available any more?

HSurf,

What my local dealership says is that, when they use my VIN to search through their parts catalog, they see the part I'm looking for. When they "click" on the part, they get a message stating that this part does not apply to my car.

Now the sales associate is telling me that he spoke with "someone at BMW" and was told that that person said there are a couple of options. The person at BMW told the sales associate at the dealership to ask me to take a photo of the one I need. That I should take a picture...of something that I do t have.

I've searched the area for people/places who are selling the same model range in the hopes that someone will let me take a picture of the bottom of their car... so far I just sound sketchy.

Ah I see, I'm wondering if your car was manufactured slap bang in the middle of the change between pre and post lci then, in which case that would be the two different bumpers they're on about. Realistically the vin should have told them exactly which one is the right one but there we go.
If you can, just take a pic on your phone and send it to them, quickest and easiest way to explain is if your reverse lights are set to the inside i.e nearest the license plate then its pre lci, if they're small and set in the middle of the fog lamp then it's and lci bumper.

Pre LCI

Post LCI

You can see the difference in fog lights between the two links above.
Not sure if your Europe or USA but above links are US.

Ahhhh, wrong thread and wrong forum, sorry buddy I've got loads going on here at the moment and none of the above will make any sense to you.

When the dealership looks this up they'll get a picture of the options just as realoem gives, can you not just ask them to show you the screen so you can point out which part it was you threw away??
