E91 touring.

I believe I have a common fault that my radio aerial is not working on my E91 320d touring ,(2006) model. I bought a fibre optic loop to plug into the satellite unit as a temp fix but I can't find the unit anywhere?

Welcome to Bimmerfest!

I moved your posting to the E9x forum so you can get model-specific help.

I read that if I plugged a fibre optic loop into the satellite tuner it did the job of the aerial. Seems my model doesn't have a satellite tuner...

There's nothing conductive about a fiber optic loop, so I'm not sure why anyone would suggest it might replace the function of an aerial (what we call antennas in the US) which picks up RF waves by being conductive allowing them to travel down it.

If you have the shark fin on the roof, you have a satellite antenna. There are 3 separate antennas in the fin, two of which are used for the cell phone that was built into the MULF module.

Since the antennas are designed for much higher frequency use, the lower frequency radio reception will be marginal at best. The proper antennas for the radio is built into the glass of the tailgate and the rear quarter glass.

The problem you are experiencing is likely caused by a defective cable in the lift gate hinge or the diversity amplifier.

No shark fin on this model...
