Z3 does anyone know what this part is?

I recently had my carpet replaced in my 2001 bmw Z3. Both windows have stopped working. In an effort to locate the reasonf for this I have removed the drivers side interior pieces to access the wires. After removing the panel this has fallen from the area behind the radio. I removed the radio to see if I could locate itís original placement. My question is does anyone know what it is, where it should be, and do any more wires need to be connected to it?

I was wondering the same thing after pulling console to repair my heater tempature control. I'm surprised BMW couldn't of made it smaller.

Thus far I've gotten infinitely more knowledge from this forum than my Bentley manual...I'm questioning if it was a waste of money.

If you look at all the connectors on it, it appears it makes a dozen different noises
