Not quite done today, but a few days ago I added a wind blocker. I had tried another brand first, but it didn't fit with the extended leather on the roll hoops, so I returned it an got this one from http://www.windrestrictor.com/.

Pretty cool

That's pretty neat!! I looked at the website. Did you get the illuminated version or just the etched one? Does the logo on the screen impact your visibility in the rear view mirror?

Thanks!

I didn't get the illuminated option. It seemed far too expensive for something that I would likely rarely use.

The logo does obstruct the view somewhat, but not significantly. I actually ordered the clear without any options, so I expected it to ship out quickly. After a week of no shipping notice, I inquired and found out that they ship within 10 - 14 business days. I can see it taking a bit longer if ordering an etched logo, but not for a product with no options. So, I gripped a bit on that and also mentioned that I was considering the etched Z4, but at $42, that seemed too much. They ended up giving me the etching for free.

If I had to do it over again, I might consider getting the wind blocker from BackBlade instead. See the comparison at http://www.backblade.net/wind-restrictor-reviews/. I stumbled upon them after I bought this one. They include etching, tinting and shipping for free.

My 03 got new stuff:

Control Arms
Tie Rods
Struts, and bearings
Rotors and Pads
Brake "wear sensor"

The whole lot of parts ran me about $800, but now I have a new car!

My weekend project was restoring my headlights. Unfortunately, I forgot to take some before photos. The clear coat on them was wearing off on the top edge and someone had used a paint pen to make some markings on them (clueless as to why). It took me a few hours to get them sanded and clear coated. I had to start with 400 grit to get the old clear coat off and worked up to 2000 grit. It was a bit of a pain to get the pointy corners sanded. A few light coats of a UV resistant clear coat compatible with plastics finished it off. They turned out better than I expected.

This video helped tremendously:

The one that he recommended in the video, http://amzn.to/1RiHCcw. Got it from Home Depot.

He has a follow on video after two years showing that they are still looking good. https://www.instagram.com/p/BC7Ov-zOjLe

Naw, it's just telling you it wants some hand washed love!

Seriously though, the car washes are really hard on the soft top material. The chemical "soaps" and "waxes" are designed for automotive paint and are caustic to the top canvas. The car wash also dumps a bunch of water and soap/wax into the top compartment drains and if the driver side is clogged it will be fatal to your top motor. The soap/wax will cause it to corrode even faster than rain water does if it gets flooded.

Right P 51167112588

same thing happened to my mirrors i replaced them with ebay specials no auto dimming but heated and they have a bend so no more blind spot. they snapped right on. the old ones have a locking ring that needs to be turned then they come off. something like 25 bucks for the pair.

I have read that the liquid can leak out and eat away at the paint, so you should replace them as soon as you can.
