Goodbye my friend...

My short time with my first (but not last) BMW is over. It was a fun nine months, with some interesting moments, but that particular car (2012 550ix) wasn't for me.

I was considering getting a Porsche Macan S and even put down a deposit to configure one to my liking and reserve the allotment. But then I decided that life is too short, I have always gone the safe route, and I might as well do what I really wanted to do for once.

So I bought this instead.....

Its certainly a lot different than a 550ix and a Macan S, lol. But hey, I'm a single guy, its the type of car I should be driving, right?

Other than the noisy cabin, this is a spectacular car! GM has really done a great job with it, quite easy to live with on a daily basis.

I just want to thank everyone on the forums for the help and information, I've learned a lot about BMW and the F10 in particular. I'm still going to frequent the forum as part of my daily routine, gotta keep up with you guys, lol.

Nice!...I've got 2 plastic wonder cars myself. The older one I bought when I was 19 years old and that was thirty eight years ago. She's under the knife right now getting a total restoration. The other one a C5 Z is my fair weather car. I have to say the 550i xDrive would smoke the '65 and give the '01 Z a good run for the money with zero drama.

Definitely going to smoke the reflectors, that stand out too much. Also going to do something about that chrome piece in the front, GM sure does look at chrome stuff.

You sir are the real deal! I doubt I'd ever keep anything as long as you've had that '65, that includes a wife, lol.

The 550 is definitely a beast, that's why I got it. It also exhibited issues that I didn't quite care for, so instead of going of going for the extended warranty I got rid of it. I think I might buy another BMW in the next couple years, most likely an X5. Really like the brand and the service.

Gorgeous! Congrats on the new Vette!

I saw a red one on the road recently and it looked fantastic! It's a shame more people don't consider the Vette. I've been thinking recently that Cadillac should get a variant of the Vette to go up against Europeans. Hopefully, it wouldn't turn out like the old XLR and those buyers would be willing to go at it.

Sorry to see you go, but the Vette is worth it. It is an American work of art, particularly the current design. I have been looking at them for a while now, still haven't pull the trigger. Would you mind if I ask how much discount did you get if any? Smart move on not getting the Macan, its a nice handling SUV but as a single guy, why would you want to drive around in a girly soccer mom mini suv? Anyway, do drop by once a while and update us on the Vette.

This is truly the first Vette I would consider owning. I always considered the C5 and C6 to be pretty mediocre cars that appealed to their base (old men who go slow) but with the new car GM proved they could make a world class performance car with a nice interior that didn't look like crap. I'm glad they didn't rest on their laurels with these.
