Condition wise, what would you expect with a CPO 6er?

Maybe Im being too picky.

There is no standard level of expectation in CPO, it's whatever the dealer wants to put out. Have a paid PPI by a trusted experienced mechanic off site. If the dealer bulls up then there's something he doesn't want found.

What do you mean by "condition"? Do you mean things like new brake pads, or no door dings or scratches? There are standards they go by for things like remaining tire tread, pad thickness etc. I assume each dealer makes up their own standards, but they could be from BMW. So it's not uncommon to see a CPO car with only half its tire or pad life left. As for cosmetics, they tend to be pretty good, but my 650 CPO had a crunchy spot on the front bumper where the prior owner hit a small post or something.

I'm talking cosmetics. Small dings on the body, scuff marks on bumpers, interior parts with slight damage and things like that.

I guess I'm a little bummed I passed on one that was nearly flawless in Palm Springs because it came from Washington State. I should have pulled the trigger on it as I've not come across one as nice since. ***55357;***56851;

I live in Colorado and found a CPO in Nevada. My impression was that the dealer paid BMW to provide additional warranty. I know it has to have been 100% maintained to factory recommendations. I have had no issues (knock on wood)! They were negotiable and finally met my initial offer. Good luck.

I'd wait for a better one. Interior defects bug me too. I can fix the little defect in my front bumper and then the car is pristine. I am also in Colorado, and bought mine n Utah. I looked at a 4 series convertible that had the very rare leather dash option - common in the 6 - that had only 5,000 miles on it and felt factory new except somebody put a tiny little cut way over on the left side of the leather dash. Most people would never even notice it. I could not buy it.

I'm now on the 2nd CPO 6er that I was interested in only to find out there was previous rear end damage. Unbelievable!

I was told by a dealer once that BMW won't CPO a car that has had any significant damage. A repainted bumper, sure, but not anything significant.

If you look at picture from the passenger side rear, you will notice the paint does not match.

Wow, that is one of the worst paint match jobs I have ever seen - so bad I think they may have bought the wrong color code, or the mixer left something out, or the person just said "give me white."

It's been really disappointing at the level of CPO cars available if you are an enthusiast. Heck, one LA area dealer took me on the roof top of their parking structure to view one that was just returned from a lease and they had a makeshift paint booth out of an EZ Up.

Why did you pass on the car that was from Washington state? Fear of rust? I don't really have that concern on a modern car that's only 2-3 years old no matter where it's from. To me, buying a car a long way away and driving it home is half the fun. I never buy them sight unseen or ship them - I always go in person. But when I'm looking, the inventory of the entire country is in play. I won't settle for a color I'm not crazy about just because its local if the color I want is 1,500 miles away. I happened to get this one in Salt Lake - only 550 miles away - but almost pulled the trigger on one in New Jersey instead. A road trip in a "new" car is as good as it gets IMO. The car I had before this was a 2008 MB CLK convertible, and I sold it to a guy in South Carolina who was at first very hesitant to buy a car from Colorado because he once bought some rust bucket online. I laughed and told him that cars do not rust here, and that once loosened, you can spin suspension nuts off with your fingers on a 10 year old car because nothing corrodes.
