Last Door Arming - F13

Hi there:

I just bought a 2013 640i (F-13). Mint condition. Just 23,330 miles. Simply… beautiful. Since 1994, I have always had a last door-arming feature in all my previous cars (none of them a BMW). That means that when I close the last door, the alarm system automatically locks the car (within 30 sec) and arms the alarm. With this feature, I never worry about forgetting to lock the car and arm the alarm. In all of them, I installed an OEM aftermarket upgrade.

It is possible to code my BMW to do the last door arming?.. If not, it is possible with an aftermarket module or something similar?. I looked a lot in the Internet, but haven’t found anything yet.

Thanks,

Jose

I don't believe this can be coded into the car, at present the only way it works is if you unlock the car but don't open a door or the boot, then the car will relock and re-arm the alarm.

Even if you could code this, I'd be leery of doing this.
You kill engine and get out quickly to address an issue while stressed, and then you find you have another issue.

The new G series BMWs do this...and perhaps some of the recently produced F series (like 2017-up model years).

What happens if you are doing something quick and only a short distance away...like getting gas at a self-serve station...or walking into convenience store or ATM and the car is within site so you don't really need to lock the vehicle...or you want to keep the car running because you have passengers inside the car? I'm not sure I want the car to auto lock after 30 seconds. Plus...how difficult is it (really) to lock the vehicle with CA (comfort access)...or even pressing a single button on the remote?

Somewhere on here, different sub forum probably, there was a diagram of how it worked for the new ones.
It was a distance thing.

Q... I totally get it... it's simple to lock it using the CA or the Remote... it's probably silly, but during the last 25 yrs I've never locked my cars after shutting off the engine and leaving the car (for any reason).. they all had last door arming, and that worked perfectly for me... currently I've had to go back to the car several times to see if I locked it…. I think that I have to install a module with a timer to activate the locks, and so arm the alarm…. Thank.. Jose
