Headlight vertical aim error (halogen) may be same for xenons

Hi everyone this fault is becoming very common it seems my car had it for 2 years before i finally figured it out, if this happens to anyone before going buying expensive parts try this step by step
1. locate fem in passenger footwell
2. unplug the plug labelled A173*4B
3. unplug both headlight connectors
4. perform a continuity test between the 8 wires that feed both stepper motors from pins 49 50 51 52 left headlight and 37 38 39 40 right headlight (see attached wiring diagram with pin numbers and cable colours) https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...tment/FpUSHuMu
5. chances are the plastic guard above your wheels and behind your lights has been rubbing on the loom and has created a break in one of the cables if no continuity is found between them look for any green patches as this is corroded copper.
6. cut corrosion away and through crimp a new piece of 0.35mm cable in
7. reconnect everything error should have gone.

if all wires are connected and reading ok then try the cables between your fem and the headlight levelling dial these are on plug A173*7B PINS 40 41 42.

Continuity test

the continuity test should be performed from the plug you take out of the fem to the plug you have taken from your headlight.

my fault is now clear but it was 'headlight vertical aim control failure' strange thing is my motors now go up and down but if i use it a few times they freeze and error comes on until i restart car. i havent come across this for any other person 9/10 the step by step i posted will solve the issue for people. I have fitted the depo angel eyes plug and play instead of the halogens the fault was there on both sets of headlights by the way which now makes me think the new motors have more resistance in the coils or something and the car doesnt like it after a few movements.
