I-drive fading to white at the bottom.

Over a year ago my kidsĎ crayons melted on the sil of my I-drive screen. I believe it coincided with the bottom of my I-drive being readable but turned whitish. This has remained unchanged for over a year. Iím guessing the crayons may have melted into a connector and this is just a result of that dirty connector. Iím tempted to not mess with something thatís not broken. What do you guys think? Crayons the cause or something else? Worth taking apart to clean or better left alone? Old picture. Not low on oil anymore . Click image for larger version

Hey BUT,

I suspect it's more likely just a row driver(s) in the LCD starting to get weak over time.

Can't see where the melted crayon would cause this in any way through the main connector, but guess it's possible that there could be some type of chemical reaction going on between the crayon and the chemicals in the LCD itself, where it's seeped into the display.

I'd be surprised if there is any way to fix this, so I'd likely either replace the display (good cheap used ones on eBay and it's a 10 minute job) or just live with it.

Just my $.02 worth.

Good luck, it would bother me too.
