Got mine done yesterday
My complaints with Open Road in Edison:
1) I had to call them 3 times re status of completion
2) When I finally got a callback at almost 5 PM, he said: "It's going through the wash now". Me: OK, I'll be there in 10 minutes.
3) I go in and sign the paperwork, and there's an additional piece of paperwork to replace the two gaskets on the oil filter housing for the low, low price of $1,000! I was stunned until I watched the videos on YouTube which involves taking a boatload of parts off, like the alternator, the serpentine belt, the fan and shroud, way more than I can handle any more at 65 and post Rotator Cuff surgery. I hope the Indies I go to will be kinder
4) Valet finds the car. Never went anywhere near the car wash. Dirtier than when I dropped it off at 10AM.
5) I understand they had to disconnect the battery, but seriously, you couldn't reset the clock, date, and other personal settings. OK, I can reset seat settings, but basic courtesy would include making things right on the dash.

And of course, now I have #3 to deal with before a road trip to the Carolinas....I guess optimistically, I should be glad they spotted the leak. Any E70 owners get this done in NJ? If so, ballpark price?

At least Tanaka is out of my two BMWs...

Best of luck to those waiting. Wow, I had no idea the entire dash came off.

I had one experience with a BMW dealer in NJ, BMW of Flemington. I was picking up a passenger in NJ for a trip to Florida and back, and decided I needed an oil change. This dealer had a special on their web site on an oil change, so I made an appointment.

The service adviser wanted to charge me $70 more for the oil change than the web price. Advised her to look at the web page special. Claimed she was unaware of it. They tried t sell me four new tires, even though my old ones still had 6/32" of tread. And they wanted to do brake work too. I declined.

When in NJ, I have my work done by Steve Vicari at Bimmer Barn in Branchburg NJ. Honest and knowledgable guy. Will only use OE parts.

I got my pass side airbag done a few months ago. Recently the dash started rattling at idle (diesel) by the glove box. I found the bolt to the right of the glove box DVD player was only finger tight. While poking around, I also found that all 4 bolts on the bottom edge of the dash were not re-installed. These are the ones that are under the drivers and pass side kick panel covers.

The work was done in Jacksonville FL and I now live in Phoenix. The path of least resistance is for me to just buy the bolts and reinstall.

Airbag Recall

I totally remember getting the recall letter for Airbags and let is pass since they were never in stock.

Got up from hibernation this week and called the BMW dealership only to learn there is NO airbag recall for my VIN and there's only one recall for the "Engine Idler Pulley Bolt".

Mine is a 2011 X535d...I would say say December 2010 build since I got delivery in Feb 2011. Is this mfg date not under the airbag recall?
