7 Series - E65 / E66 (2002 - 2008)
Discussion of BMW's 4th generation E65/E66 7 Series flagship. The E65 generated much controversy, due to its radical styling and iDrive user difficulties. Nonetheless, the E65 broke records to become the best-selling 7-series iteration ever, especially after its 2005 facelift.

Stretch Belt Install (E66, Compressor with Bracket)

Trying to figure out how to install a stretch belt back over the crank and compressor pulley. I've tried using the BMW-specific clamp tool, but it won't clear a compressor bracket that sticks out from the compressor to hold some hoses. I've also tried to using a universal stretch belt install tool on the main crankshaft pulley with no success. How have you guys done it?

The tool I used that won't clear the bracket next to the compressor.

The universal tool I tried to use on the main crank pulley in a separate attempt.

(Yes, it's called a 'remover', but if flipped around it also is for installing.)

Specific Vehicle: 2007 BMW 750Li E66

Any input is greatly appreciated, thank you!

Wuffles,
The CTA tool you have will work. Itís been a while since I did a stretch belt on a N62, but Iíve used a tool similar to that one three different times. That aluminum bracket bends a little, just enough to let it slip by. Use another person if you can. One to turn the crank, and one to keep the tool in place and pry the belt in place from underneath the car. GL

6&7 it worked! I ended up using my foot, but I was able to crank the pulley, pull up on the belt and push down on that bracket at the same time to get it on. What a pain in the... thank you all for your replies!
