lol... wasting money is masculine. saving money is emasculating. odd way to perceive manliness.
i live in a congested city. being in sport+ mode 24/7 doesn't do me (or most on here) any favors.
if you live in a rural area with open roads and no traffic then it may work for you but for others not so much.
i believe there is a place and time for everything and the perfect setting for each location or the driving style you're about to engage in.

Ouch. That probably hurt. Sorry.

Personally, i could live having to push the sport button every time if i could have my fog lamps back.

And another thing, you kids get off my lawn.

Thanks, i feel much better!

I also live in a populous metropolitan area as well, the Washington, D.C. region. To me, the languid engine response from enabling ECO PRO mode is just as annoying while driving urban and suburban arterial routes and streets (about 65% of my driving) as on expressways (approx. 32%) and in HPDE or autocross (3%). As such, I enable SPORT mode 100% of the time I'm driving my F30 320i.

This is the fuel consumption rating my car gave me in return from the time I took delivery until a couple months ago, about 5,200 mi.:

Granted, the trip computer is a few mpg too optimistic. Still, fuel economy exceeded my expectations. As Nordique averred in another thread, the N20 engine and 6-speed manual transmission in the 320i deliver surprisingly good fuel economy even when the driver attempts not to achieve that.

fuel economy meets my expectations in comfort mode. no real complaints but i find the start/stop feature more annoying than anything else.
i drove with an entire tank of gas in eco-pro mode and it yielded a savings of 1.8mpg. it's quite laughable but i can see why others may want to choose this over hyper-miling.
generally speaking i don't complain about MPG and i am not a gallon gazer who concerns himself with fuel costs but bashing others on here for wanting to customize their vehicle to suit their needs is quite peculiar and in poor taste.

I'm the same way when it comes to mpg and fuel costs. As Nordique often says, "smiles per gallon" rating is a key factor for me when I drive my 320i. The one time I tried ECO PRO mode, the overall experience was more of this

and this

I mentioned the coding modification to enable ECO PRO by default earlier in this thread. F30 owners can choose to apply it to their cars if they so desire. It's only fair to inform others about the expected impact of this coding to the driving experience.

Forgive my ignorance, but I thought you could code the most recent models to start in the last setting?? So, if I had the car with ASS off and in Sport+ mode when I turned it off, it would start with those same settings????

Auto start-stop, yes last setting is remembered; SPORT+ mode in DDC, no.

Well, it would appear we all agree it would be preferable for our cars to retain our preferred settings rather than defaulting to Comfort mode each time. Unless of course, Comfort mode is your preferred setting, in which case you are happy.

Anyone? Bueller?

(that was a joke, no need to get your panties all bunched up, it's fine if you like Comfort, Sport, Sport+ or even EcoPro, it's your car push whatever button you like)

As to the notion that "wasting money" and "wasting gas" is the masculine thing to do, this is an unfair interpretation of my choice of words. So, how about this?

Why would I want a button that makes my car slow and causes the AC to work poorly?

or:

If I wanted a slower car that got better mileage, I would have bought one and it would have cost less.

Fortunately, I do not live in a congested city where my car cannot roam free as it's Creator intended. Whenever we visit congested urban areas we try to use public transportation, bike share, or simply walk to our destinations.
You don't have to park a bus or light rail when you get to where you are going. Driving and parking in congested urban areas pretty much sucks in my limited experience, regardless of what mode you select.

Sport mode for me at all times and in all traffic conditions (Chassis Only). That includes driving 10 feet from my driveway into my garage after washing the car.

I use EcoPro during my afternoon commute, the in-traffic part of it. When I surge up onto the bridge over the river, I switch back to Comfort, and sometimes Sport, just because they're there.

I'm afraid I don't have the patience to use EcoPro for an entire 2-week session while I burn 15 gallons of gas. Don't get me wrong, I consider getting an average of 28 mpg over 26.5 to be great, and even the 26.5 is astonishing on a car with 245 hp . . . but as Jummo said above, if I wanted a slower car with great mpg, I'd have bought that car, and it would have cost less than the BMW.

I only drive in sport and have never driven any of my 95,000 miles on my 2013 320i in comfort mode. Even so, I regularly get over 30 mpg in my daily driving (even though I'm retired). I really enjoy driving and like to be able to step on it whenever I want.
