Buying one of three cars, advice appreciated

I am purchasing a M this weekend. I have narrowed my choices to three and would appreciate any input. All are convertible, 6MT.
(1) 2011 White (exterior)/ Red Interior. 28K miles, one owner (lease), premium/cold weather/ convenience pkgs. Price 47,500
(2) 2011 Red/ Black 15K, one owner (lease) premium/cold weather/ convenience pkgs. Price 51,815
(3) 2008 black/black, 2 owners, Premium Package, Technology Package with Navigation, Cold Weather Package, 11K miles. Price 43,880

My questions are the following: (1) does 10K miles make that much a difference with these cars i.e. not a significant difference between 28 and 15K? (2) are the aftermarket warranties worth the cost (4000 for 100K mile plan, no deductable, doesn't cover routine maintenance)? I believe the 2008 was first year with V8 and I've read a couple of reports of problems. Any owners or truth to it? Again, I appreciate any inpput/advic

I'm new to BMW and new to my 2008 M3. I specifically waited for this year model, color, manual trans, low miles. I think the smartest thing I did was wait for this car to show up as I desired. The lower the miles the better IMO. The prices seem right you posted. I purchased the extra warranty it seems like a good idea.

Just for the record, not an M3 owner, but will be shopping shortly. My input, I'd go for #2. Both colors are good, but #2 has less miles for only another $4k. In my opinion and as a general rule, lower miles is always better. It also has the remaining warranty. Probably less if you can negotiate any. I'd skip #3, unless cost is a bog issue. No factory warranty and that was before the refresh.

Of the choices, I would opt for either # 1 or 2 as there would still be some time left in the factory warranty and ability to buy an extension (to the factory warranty). Other considerations are the availability of service records and overall condition of each vehicle. In-terms of color combo, per my sig, I would be bias toward the red/black. But white/red is also a good combo. Either way, have a complete inspection done.

In general the E9x M3 has been a very reliable vehicle but regular service is the key.

Thanks for all the advice! I ruled out #3 and went with #1. I was able to negotiate the price more and they gave me a better deal on my trade in. I'm going to pick up today. The dealer I'm buying the car from offers warranties through First Automotive (comprehensive).

Do more research on the aftermarket warranty. You got time. Most of them have payment plans anyhow so you don't necessarily have to work it into your financing if not paying cash.

I picked up the car today and what a beast! 70 in 3rd gear and not even close to rev limiter. I bought the extended warranty, but I can can cancel and get prorated refund (should I find one I like better).

Does daily or regular driving in the "M" drive bad for the car?

The one you got may be fine. You just hear that there are a lot of bad ones out there. Just recommend you surf the web looking for info on the best ones. I haven't decided which one I'm getting yet, but don't want to turn your thread into a warranty discussion.

Also, get involved on M3post.com. There's definitely more activity on discussions about the M3 over there.

Daily driving with the 'M' enabled shouldn't hurt the car. Just don't drive sportingly until it's fully warmed up.

Skip #3. Whichever of #1 or #2 that has the most recent in service date maybe, or whichever color you prefer (mine is AW).
