I had a minor incident backing up into a wall very slowly (no visible damage). Now the backup image oscillates up and down. Looks like the actual camera moves up and down under the BMW badge. It also seems to improve after 15-20 seconds, or if I start turning (while backing up). What causes this? Any ideas how to fix?

You broke the camera foundation or you broke the video equalizer.

Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot or potentially replace?

Have a look at TIS for your car, sounds like you will have to remove either the back panel and remove the camera and have a look. Subject to where the car was actually hit, for it to hit the roundel you have to get past the bumper, unless it was a high up hit!!!

Definitely did not hit the roundel.
Excuse my ignorance, but what is "TIS"?

Do I access camera from inside trunk lid?
