2015 M4..doesn't seem all that fast

Hey guys,

I have about 6k on it now...for some reason, the throttle response feels a bit lame. The car doesn't set me back in the seat like i thought it would. I think occasionally I will hit it and it pulls hard, but more often then not, it just seems like a lot of lag.

I don't have any warning lights on, I like to drive in m2 which is sport plus, 3 bars, and no traction control.

I have the jumpy transmission issue though, when down shifting into 2nd or first the car lurches like a newby learning a stick.

Any thoughts? Besides a tune...which i may need to get.

When you visited the dealer for a warranty resolution - you went to a dealer with this didn't you - what was the diagnosis?

It has 6k...only had it in for 1200 mile. I was asking this question because i want to make an appointment to have it looked at. I was wanting to hear other owner impressions or ideas.

I don't know. Mine seems ridiculously fast. What are you coming out of - what were you driving before?

If u keep the RPMs high in the 4-5k region at all times the power is there very quick, if u keep the RPMs down lower there will be a lag. This car is not made for standing still racing I have learned but a 30 mph roll this car is a sleeper and will beat out most Porsche's . The shift from 1st to 2nd is horrible I have learned to quick shift out of first is the best way to not lose power.

Well, many are not aware: There is a ghost in the machine.

See, your ECU constantly monitors throttle, brake, and steering; customizes engine and transmission response to suit. Gentle driving yields gentle response - a suddenly heavy foot on the throttle & brake over-stresses your ride's software, until it can adjust.

However, when re-programmed, adaptations are wiped out. The car learns all over again. I'd like to be able to freeze adaptations, or save to memory as a driver's preference, when the car behaves well for me. But no.....

How quickly can the software readjust? I've heard stories about dealers fixing problems like this by opening the cars up on the highway. As a result, I drive my wife's car once very 2 weeks, just to flush out any build-up.

Some say 15 min, I've found half hour minimum. But....should be procedure to wipe adaptation memory. On mine, transmission adaptations are reset this way:

1) hit start button once to turn on power (Don't start the engine)
2) then press the accelerator down to the floor for 10 sec
3) then hit start button once to turn off power
4) then remove foot from accelerator
5) then wait 2 minutes
4) then start the engine like normal and try it out!

A little like below but try it - does it work on yours?

I don't think I will ever have that problem! Go Valentine!
