Thinking about jumping into the X1

Hello fellow bimmer owners. Im proud owner of a e39 99 528i auto. She's a little tired, she's got 280,000 miles now so I need a newer used ride. I do "diy" and I have posted a few diys in the e39 forum. I wonder how many of you are or were part of the e39 club? haha.
So can you tell me all about this beauty of SUV/SAC please? whats bad, whats good...everything please.
I would like to get a 2013 6cyl turbo (M)sport if possible
Thanks IA

Do it!

I've had my '13 n55 Msport for two years/20k mi. and loved most every minute. It's super fun and very comfortable. No issues (knock wood) so far.

The only complaints I have are minor. The stereo was inadequate so speakers/amp were upgraded. Wish it had room for a real spare tire. The seatbelt doesn't want to let me put it on sometimes, requiring some fidgeting and waiting for it to release. Radio forgets what station it's on frequently. Infotainment system is generally lacking compared to other cars.

Thermostat and transfer case are potential weak points, from what I hear.

Thanks for your input. Soon enough I will test drive one to see what it is all about
