White smoke

Hi all, started seeing white smoke from passenger hood side especially after highway driving and then coming to a full stop. I have a 2015 x1 awd. Here are some pics. Smoke disappears after a few minutes and less noticeable with city driving. I had an oil leak about a year ago which got fixed under warranty. I have 77k miles and I don't see any smoke on the exhaust side at startup or driving. Any ideas? I saw that coolant was nearly empty and I stopped it. So there could be a coolant leak for sure as I never skip my routine maintenance work.

White smoke, very often, is indeed coolant evaporating. If you're seeing white smoke bellow out from the engine bay, this can mean that coolant is leaking onto a very hot component, like the exhaust manifold. This causes the coolant to boil and evaporate, causing the white steam you see. Since you also noticed that your coolant was low, I'd say this would be worth investigating further for sure.

With your engine running, do you see any leaks / drips ?

Not even sure if -40 degrees is cold anymore ?
