2016 428I air conditioning

I drove to Pittsburgh PA a couple of weeks ago, and about 3 hours into the trip the air conditioner froze up. Pulled over had some lunch, came back out and it worked fine. Had the same problem coming home. Took it to the dealer and it was fixed in minutes. He told me they had a bulletin about this problem from BMW and it is a problem on some of the models. Just a minor adjustment and it works fine.

This did happens before to me with my E90 335d. To prevent the evaporator freezing up in humid climate and long trip is to increase the fan speed.

....could u please share the bulletin # with us? There appears to be a few different bulletins on this issue.

I experienced the same issue last summer on a long hot drive through the south. I told the dealer about the bulletin ( SIB 64-06-13: Install spacer into temp sensor) but instead they changed the blower per a separate TSB (TSB ID: B641216: Hvac blower not working) . This summer, on the same long hot trip through the south, I experienced the same issue with my AC. I will be going back to dealer and insist that they address SIB 64-06-13

Were you running ac in auto mode? If so increase the fan speed to maximum.

What minor adjustment was made on your car.

I don't know what bulletin, was only told it was a common problem and it was an easy adjustment. If I find any info I will let you know.
