trouble shooting AC Compressor

I got a 1992 525i with a 118k on it.
My first BMW.
Air doesn't work? Blows hot air.
compressor engages.
Aux. Fan engages.
Amb. Temp /sensor works.
Air flow dial on the dash set to blue.
Low side charged to max.
high side will only go to about 50psi
both tubes coming out of compressor are hot.

Can anyone confirm my thinking that the compressor is shot?? (not compressing)
I don't want to hear its the expansion valve!!
Pleas Help............

Ever find the problem?

I'm having EXACTLY same issue in 05 745i. If you have fixed it - please let me know..

Got to bring it to a shop where they pressurize test it and see if it's holding freon. Also maybe clutch coil is bad. In my case my compressor hold freon but the ground wire had torn off now it blows warm air.
