Need Magic with Radio Code that No One Can Find

Hey all, hopefully someone with the right knowledge can help me out here. I recently purchased a 1995 540i/6 Sport to restore. It's a rare model and was Euro Delivery and always a California car, so my goal is really to bring it back to factory shine.

Unfortunately, the radio needs the code and the dealer can't seem to retrieve it. They even submitted a puma and the response didn't help them any. I have the serial number from the radio, model and type, and VIN.

If anyone thinks they can be a search jedi and find the code for me, that would be wonderful! Please let me know if you are willing to give it a shot and I'll PM you the relevant info.

Thanks!

No, I don't want to pay for something that ought to be free.

this is a long shot, but maybe it'll work for you

On my old 97 m3, the radio code in the owners manual wouldn't unlock the OEM radio. I tried it several times before I got locked out and had to wait an hour or so. While waiting and trying to figure out what to do, I realized the radio must've been replaced at some point by the prior owner (not surprising given the crap OEM radios) as a different radio code was hand written in a sharpie on the top of the metal housing of the radio itself.

Now just watch someone post a source for free codes...

The dealer is. It's their job, they have the system, it's a free service. Apparently mine didn't know what they were doing, BMWNA called me back today with the code. I'll be trying it tonight.

There is no reason to ever pay for a radio code. All dealers, of any brand, provide the codes for free. This is the first time I've ever had one "not be able to find it".

I wonder why no dealers chimed in here. I guess I should have gone to my local dealer, but they're never very helpful and it always aggravating working with them (which is why I went out of the area to purchase my last car).

It'll be interesting to see if going to straight to BMWNA gets you the code.

It did. I haven't had a chance to confirm they got it right, but they gave me a code.

They will first refer you back to your dealer, which is who should be your first POC anyway. After I explained they had been trying for weeks and asked them to escalate my call, they understood the situation and told me they'd look into it. Just called me today with a code.

Like I said, I've never experienced this problem before. Ever. Across several European makes several times it has always been a 5 minute conversation with an SA to get the code.

I knew it was a long shot since most dealer personnel on here are sales people, but I did think I'd get a little better response. Oh well.

Call me crazy, but based on the tone of this post it doesn't surprise me you didn't get folks tripping over eachother to help you out.

I think you're misreading my tone. Wasn't a dig at anyone. Sales people are busy and I wouldn't expect them to have that knowledge just like I wouldn't expect the SA to know the MFs or trunk money for a given period. I a just hoping maybe an SA or two read this section as well. Guess not.

As to the second post, which part of that is incorrect? Again, no tone except some exasperation with my local dealer.
