Stripe removal

I bought a 1999 528IA Titanium silver for the body panels I needed to repair my car. (A birch tree fell on it) damaged the hood, drivers fender and drivers door.

the fender and door have aftermarket on the clear applied black stripes.

I am a mechanical guy, paint and body are not my forte... I have a heat gun, goo gone, acetone etc..... I want to have some knowledge and research before I wade into this project.

any help would be appreciated. thanks!

Try Dawn dishwashing liquid. It might still be a gradual process, where the Dawn attacks the adhesive just on the edge of the decals.

The only mod's I've ever done to a car is to peel the "1500" and "C H E V R O L E T" decals off a "work truck." When new they peel right off. But, after baking in the sun for a a few years the adhesive seeps down into the clear coat.
