What is up with all of the ancient thread resurrections?

It seems to be happening all of the time lately. Not that there is really anything wrong with it but I just wonder what causes someone to reply to a three or four year old thread? It really puzzles me when it is someone's first and only post after registering??

I could understand if they were looking for and answer for something but most are just BS threads. Just look at some of the ones that were resurrected in the last few days...late girlfriends, money for education etc. What were they searching for when they found them?
