M Models and European Delivery

Lately I have received several requests for ///M Models and European Delivery. As has been the case since 2012, availability is a real challenge as production does NOT come from the separate and unrestricted supply pool (as do all other European-produced BMW models).

To make challenge greater, M2 & M4 are extremely limited-production these days - even regular US-delivery allocation as they rapidly approach the end of their life cycles.

For any other models, ED provides readily available supply..

I'm always here to help California buyers.

Thanks for posting, as I'm passing on ED for my 2018 M4 vert replacement for September 2020, just going to fly back from Germany to the PCD after attending Oktoberfest. I know that EOP for the F83 is August 2020, as I will place my order in 2 months to secure an allocation due to a individual interior order.

PS surprised that the M8 coupe, vert or GC isn't on the limited ED list.

I think they are presumed to be. M8 GC I just posted about how that will be launched earlier today.

It is possible but not as easy, as Jon mentioned. I reached out to a handful of dealers in the Washington, DC metro area late October for May ED for an M2. None of the dealers seemed to be all that interested in ED, as quite a few M2s were in dealer inventories. I browsed the forums and found Joe Feng at Catonsville BMW in Maryland being mentioned a few times as being great to work with.

I reached out to Joe and he explained how his allocations for M2 worked in the past and what and when he expected, and gave me timelines and how he would be able to secure it for me with the May delivery date in mind. Fast forward to late January, he reached out to let me know that he had secured an allocation and sent me the paperwork. Another day or two later, he sent me the production number and confirmed my pickup date. It was the most painless car buying experience I've ever had and Joe has been extremely responsive. It is definitely worth seeking out ED-experienced BMW sales professionals and I would wholeheartedly recommend Joe for ED purchase.

I have to give a +1 for Joe Feng. When I was shopping around a few months ago, Joe Feng was quick to reply and upfront about everything. I wasn't ordering an M vehicle but needed my ED date to be pushed out a bit (school vacation week). He was easy to communicate w/ by phone and email. I ended up ordering w/ a local dealer who arranged ED's for 2 acquaintances of mine recently but I would highly recommend Joe for anyone in the MD/DC area.

Excellent!

Now I've got a name to refer to again on the East Coast.

For non-M models I personally am happy to discuss assist would-be East Coast European Delivery customers. I can coordinate ED and set up final pick-up at the Performance Delivery Center for residents of most states!

It is great to see another MD dealer get a good recommendation on this forum. I worked with Joern Esser at Passport BMW when I bought my 2007 335i but Joern has left the dealership and I do not know where he landed. He was a native of Munich so he was a treasure trove of information to me when I did my first ED.

Joern changed careers, is now a Real Estate agent and German Language Teacher.

I still prefer Passport over Rockville, just bought a M240i from them, salesman was Nathan Tibbetts and would recommend him.

Thanks for the info, Jon.

Do you have thoughts on how a potential M5 buyer that wants an ED should approach the matter?

I'm contemplating replacing my current rig with either an M550 or an M5 in late May.

I've got a M5 for European Delivery for you RIGHT NOW!

Seriously.

It's yours for ED until its gone.

Usually I need 90 days minimum to coordinate an ED.

Late Feb + 90 = late May.

Gah!

Thank you for pointing the 90 day window out. My wife and I need to make some decisions. Will be in touch.

Cheers.

M550i is always an easy one. Like all other n-M models, there is a separate "ED Supply Pool" with unlimited supply, outside of regular vehicle allocation process.

If I had 100 orders I could fill every last one!

Are they still doing the M only delivery day in May?
